lol. na they use solar panels and batteries. one thing about those people up in idaho is they're not dependent. and not like guerrillas. they have jobs and families. they just live off grid.

there's so many different kinds of people in this country. i don't believe that everybody should be squeezed into group a or group b. we need some choices.

I always liked the quote from John Lennon,,, he was asked ,"what are ya, dem or rep.?"  He replied," I would like to be a baggist". The reporters says,"HUH???" . Lennon replied," I wish all candidates would stand on a stage for a debate, ALL with bags over their complete bodies, that way we wouldnt see their color, or their sex, or if their clothes were expensive or poor. we could only hear their views on the subjects at hand."  I always thought that was typical Lennon!!    Tuck

BS on the abortion thing Jonny. Give us a break....sounds like a Savage blogger or worse.

On the other hand: When the phone rings at 3 a.m., will Palin call the Wasilla Assembly of God congregation and ask them to pray on a response, as she asked them to pray for a natural gas pipeline?

Just something to ponder.

I sure hope so.  There's a lot more wisdom to be found with God than on your own.

From Factcheck:
Quote:
At issue is Obama's opposition to Illinois legislation in 2001, 2002 and 2003 that would have defined any aborted fetus that showed signs of life as a "born alive infant" entitled to legal protection, even if doctors believe it could not survive.

Obama opposed the 2001 and 2002 "born alive" bills as backdoor attacks on a woman's legal right to abortion, but he says he would have been "fully in support" of a similar federal bill that President Bush had signed in 2002, because it contained protections for Roe v. Wade.

We find that, as the NRLC said in a recent statement, Obama voted in committee against the 2003 state bill that was nearly identical to the federal act he says he would have supported. Both contained identical clauses saying that nothing in the bills could be construed to affect legal rights of an unborn fetus, according to an undisputed summary written immediately after the committee's 2003 mark-up session.

Just remember that when you make abortion illegal, the number of partial birth abortions will significantly increase.

Also, on the three o'clock in the morning call, I have no problem asking God's help on the decision on the earthquake that is happening. God's help will be welcome but if things are as we are taught, it will work out. He's a forgiving type and first calling the National Guard won't get in the way.

This is what happens when the complete context is not posted.  The last paragraph in that statement on Fact Check says this,

"Whether opposing "born alive" legislation is the same as supporting "infanticide," however, is entirely a matter of interpretation. That could be true only for those, such as Obama's 2004 Republican opponent, Alan Keyes, who believe a fetus that doctors give no chance of surviving is an "infant." It is worth noting that Illinois law already provided that physicians must protect the life of a fetus when there is "a reasonable likelihood of sustained survival of the fetus outside the womb, with or without artificial support."

And, for the record, after the fetus is viable, there should be NO reason to perform a partial-birth abortion, UNLESS delivering this baby (remember, we're talking viable here, and the earliest infant delivered to live was at the 5.5 mth. gestation.) would endanger the mother's life (and I haven't really found too many cases like that).

Ok, you be the judge....if there was a law already, why were they voting on it?

As crappy and devisive as it is, it's hard not to look at it, and from a different perspective. What has happened since Roe v. Wade is the constant ranting from pro-lifers. It's they who have made abortion popular. Abortion was new to me at the time. I knew almost nothing about it. Now because of all the stories and illustrations of its horrors, everybody now knows how not to do it and of course they inadvertantly learn how to do it successfully. The unintended result is that along the way, there is so much more information about it and how it is done. It has made it something for people who never considered it, to realize that it's an option. Those who cannot afford decent medical care would be the most vulnerable, of course.

Also, should it become a seriously punishable thing, it will in effect sawmp the legal system. What are you going to do....put tens of thousands of men and women in prison after spending years in court battles? Of course you can think of such an outcome as a serious form of child abuse because of the terrible damage done by destroying existing families. It will  tear apart the homelife of millions of children, friends, grandparents and relatives. There will be thousands of children growing up under the care of people who may not like the burden of raising kids and increase the chances of sexual abuse. Too, these kids from destroyed families will grow up hating the judical system, law enforcement, and will have significantly lower success in education and development. They may find jobs building more prisons though for the eventually, hundreds of thousands imprisoned parents and friends caught up in this buzzsaw. Lots of construction jobs and employment counseling for more anti-social children. We'll need a hundred thousand more police also to handle all these "criminals."

Simplistic solutions should not be confused with wisdom.

Just something to think about.

Egad!  Sorry kids.  Shocked

I'll have to research the actual language of the Illinois law.  Watching a video on you tube, where the person speaking is considered to be one of the top pro lifers doesn't sway me very much.

I'm guessing that Fact Check is wrong then?  Hmm, it's been fairly accurate on everything else.  Guess they just dropped the ball on this one.

ETA  Charlie,  The first video is of Jill Sstanek being interviewed by Bill O'Reilly (didn't watch the second one).

Stanek's bio

Downloading Shawn Hannity! This is what I did one of the few times I've done so? I hate you Jonny  Cool

It's standard Fox News Entertainment Channel. I saw the Obama bytes in the original interview. Stanek says little that I haven't heard. I'm don't need to research Obama's legislation record to know where he stands on the subject. He's not stupid and 65% of the people agree with him. Fox interviewees are part of the very successful bunch that tries to divert people to waste time on obscure bits distortions from real issues.

Also, most of the feedback from the Youtube site says it fairly well. He's another victim of right wing fear mongering.
