What next?
Oct 2nd, 2008 at 2:22pm

Yesterday, I lost a Dear Uncle. He visited me every weekend, or I visited him. Barb and myself have been kind of taking care of him mentally for the last 10 years after the death of my Aunt. We would talk, shoot the bull and have coffee etc. It was good mental therapy for him. He was at my door every Sat. and Sunday at 9:15 a.m. Sometimes it was a pain, but I think we felt honored that someone thought enough of us to share their innermost feelings with us and just relax and be at ease. He didn't even have this kind of relationship with his own daughters (whom I'm pissed at right now) but I'll get to them in due time.

The worst part is my 9 yr. old son Christopher is taking this pretty hard. Uncle Donny always brought him something and played with him or even helped him with his homework. I just got an email from his teacher telling me that he wanted to see his counselor about his Uncle.

We'll get him through it and I'm sure he will be fine. When their younger, kids can pretty much deal with anything, but as they get older they start to realize the finality of it all when someone dies.

Uncle Donny, I'll see you on the other side.

Love Ya!

Jimmers

Sorry for your family's loss.  Sounds like Uncle Donny was an important part of your life.  This hurts. Cry

Your son is at an impressionable age (this stage is one of learning about self).  He will learn from you and your wife about caring, grieving and how one handles death.  Don't be afraid to let him see his dad cry.

This is shirttail advice from an older person. Sorry if I'm imposing.

Your family is in my prayers.

Sorry to hear this, jimmers.  You all were good to your Uncle. He was blessed to have you and your family.  So many relatives neglect their elderly.  It's a shame.

It's hard....especially for children.  Time has a way of healing.

Our condolences to you all....

Much Love

My condolences and best wishes to your family.

Sorry to hear that your boy is having such a rough time with it.  It's tough on kids at that age.  I know he has some great folks around him to help him through it, though.

All the best,

George

Remember the good times and let the others go.... you have no regrets - that's the good part. Let his kids have the regrets...

You're in my prayers and have my deepest sympathy.
