The holocaust- from a German American.
Oct 2nd, 2008 at 5:27pm

This was sent to me by a friend of mine. This is not meant to offend anyone.

I am German.  One of my Great-Grandmothers was smuggled out of Germany in a suitcase as a child, by her older brother.  She never saw him again. Her parents where taken to Auschwitz and we have never been able to find out anything else. We have just assumed that they where some of the many who never left.
This email struck me deeply, as there are so many of us that where touched by 9/11.

It is our job to remember. Not because we are Americans, or because we are Christian, but because we are Human Beings.

The worse thing that we could do, is to forget what has happened and turn the other way because it makes us uncomfortable.

The holocaust

It is a matter of history that when Supreme Commander
of the Allied Forces,

General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered

all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from

surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury

the dead. He did this because he said in words to this effect:

'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because

somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say

that this never happened.

This week, the UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum because

it 'offended' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred.  This is a

frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each

country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

This is a memorial chain, in memory of  the,

6 million Jews,

20 million Russians,

10 million Christians,

and 1,900 Catholic priests

who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beat,

experimented on and humiliated

while people looked the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be  a myth,
it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

This is false, albeit inspired by April 2007 news coverage of a government-funded study which found that a few British schools and individual teachers had avoided presenting "emotive" subject matter such as the history of the Holocaust to their students for fear of giving offense to Muslims or otherwise generating controversy in the classroom.

Hmm the point of this topic is different, but I really don't understand how anyone can dany things as obvious as holocaust (because there are so many proofs, relations). I can't say those "scientists" like Irving are dumb, because I don't know their point of view very deeply, but they prolly are. Well, it's illegal in many European countries.

Not only muslims deny obvious crimes. For example Russians deny some things even now (vide Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register).

Yes, of course.

After reading:

Quote:

With the Brits in it from beginning to end, first taking a miraculous retreat off the continent at Dunkirk, then enduring a tremendous onslaught from above at home and underwater at sea by the Germans, being so involved as part of that history, I wouldn't know the Brits to give in easily to much.   Wink

I visited Dacau in 1962 BEFORE they turned it into a museum. That's something that's never left me.

I went back 25 years later and it was a museum and a tourist attraction - a lot different from what I saw in 62, but I'm still carrying the 62 impression with me today.

No we should NOT forget EVER.

In my opinion, nothing in history should ever be forgotten. We learn from history and hopefully avoid the same mistakes in the future.

There are plenty of people who deny the holocaust .  Neo-nazi groups, for example.  As a Jew who lost relatives in the holocaust, I'll never forget.  My mother was in a camp after the nazis took over Prauge.

I had a teacher who was in a camp as a teenager (early teens).  The first day she told the class she would make us a bet.  She offered to arm wrestle the strongest kid in class.  If she won, we would agree to respect her rules.  If not, she would let us make some rules.    This woman beat this 14 year old kid 3 times her weight and we never questioned her.

That same day a kid noticed she was drinking hot water and asked her if she really liked it.  She replied that her stomach couldn't take anything more.  Her time in the camp messed her up for good.

Anyway, if you had ever met her, you would never have to question the Holocaust.  She told us a few stories that stay with me today.  I hope the world NEVER gives in to those who wish to deny the truth.

Finally, if you get a chance and have a weak stomach but want to see more, go to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam.  I saw 2 guys who looked like football players crying in the gift shop while visiting there.

In my 45 years of dealing at gun shows and working in the military relics business, I've met some really bizarre types. Guys who dress their kids in brown shirts, Klansmen, scores of militia types, self-styled white supremacists, and more. It's a bigger part of WWII military collectibles than I'll like to imagine........ of course people who pass out flyers proving that the Holocaust is a fraud.

This same charming group would probably waste their time with similar insipid comparisons of anybody to Hitler.

Charlie, you have some serious blinders on if you can watch those kids sing about our new messiah and *not* see the same thing that goes on in China, North Korea, and formerly the Third Riech.  I know it would kill you to admit it, but it is exactly the same thing.  Are you trying to tell me these kids, all on their own, are so tuned into economics and democracy that they put together a production like this?  Riiiight.  You have got to be kidding yourself, because you're not kidding me.  I ain't buying it for a second.  C'mon.   Roll Eyes

Linda:

At some military shows, you can buy any number of anti-semitic newspapers, books, and more on display tables along with Nazi war relics. At many of these things...not all, you can find all kinds of pins, insignia and goodies too. It's not pretty. It's been awhile since I've been to one of these things and I wonder what the effect 9-11 has had on them. It must be wild.....

Fubs:

I can't possibly go into video here. It takes me hours to download the stuff. While Obama looks and sounds good to kids, he's really not so different. To me, he's a classic a classic example of one who campaigns from the left and will govern from the center. It's what American politicians do.

He's not unique in the HItler similarity. One thing Hitler was was a helluva politician. He did mostly what others did but so much better....unfortunatley.

I've heard this comparison before but it's relation to the present escapes me.

I wouldn't see a comparison to the Hitler Youth, which were age 14 - 18, not of voting age.

Obama hit the colleges here in MI pretty well, 28,000 showed at Wayne State and I know he did MI State lately, many registered.  McCain pulled up stakes here, conceding this state to Obama.  Last I heard McCain was down by more than ten percentage points, in a state with the about the worst unemployment.

What I'd see are college kids about to enter the prime of their life in a very dismal job environment, spending and studying to get somewhere with nowhere to go in this state when they graduate.

They want change and want it now.  Whatever has been going on in Washington, it seems to get worse here, change is the word.

Yeah it's a bunch of promises but it's something for them to grasp onto and put hope in.  Maybe they trust him, who knows, they're excited.

Let's put on our tinfoil hats and pretend that the "kids for McCain" videos out there don't exist, or are fakes.  When Reagan came from no where with a message of change and hope, that was good - but when a Democrat does that, surely it is evil.

Funny how just a few years ago, the wingnuts said Bill Clinton was just like Hitler.  Then when Al Gore ran, he was Hitler. Earlier this year, Hillary Clinton was Hitler. And now Obama. I guess nobody told you that when you describe everyone you don't like as Hitler, you lose all credibility, Fubar?  You're not one bit better than the wingnuts on the left that compare Bush or McCain to Hitler.

Comparisons to Hitler have no place in a music concert, or in the presidential campaign.

Whatever Madonna's political or personal views, it is outrageous to invoke Nazi imagery in the context of John McCain's candidacy or to make a comment on American political leadership.

It is inappropriate and offensive to compare any current or former world leaders with the man ultimately responsible for the death of six million Jews and the suffering of countless others during the Holocaust. Doing so trivializes the history of the Holocaust and is an insult to the memories of the victims and their families.

It's too bad for those that can't watch it, because it speaks volumes.

Give me a break, bringing up the plain fact that this video is similar to Hitler Youth is just bringing up a fact.  I didn't say Obama was Hitler.  I'm talking about the irrational exuberance over our new glorious leader, savior and messiah.  These kids don't know anything about anything, so their young faces pleading for the glorious Obama to change the world are nothing but scripted propaganda.  The sad, sad fact is it works for a lot of people.

It has always been beyond me how anyone with a sane head on his/her shoulders could deny the Holocaust. But then again, it's always the neo-nazi types who do that, which aren't exactly shining examples of lucidity and reason.

Here in the city's centre, at the entrance to a Jewish cemetary, you can see the names of all the Jewish citizens who were deported and killed during those years, and it always gives me the chills thinking of what people are capable off.

In the Netherlands it is a crime to publicly deny the Holocaust. So what you get is a radical iman who on TV states that he would never deny the Holocaust, coz it's a crime, when confronted with questions about it....LOL. But he is known for preaching differently. Damn, what a soft country have we become.

You know, yakking about this is okay here but the Karl Rove bottom feeders of the GOP use stuff like this to waste the time of opponents. They are expert at getting people to defend not-relevant issues that divert the party from the serious business of running against their goof. Obama and Biden seem to handle this better though. 2008 Democrats are doing just fine.

At least the Hilary message amounts to a Christmas card.

I am a very proud part of the nation that the 3rd Reich triad to annihilate……
I was born and raised in Israel and served in the Israeli Navy…… I am a proud son to this
nation and sovereign country….. build (not only) on the ashes of the bigotry,
Profound hate rage, racism, and a genocide.

One can go and try and deny, try and re-write history, try to revive the hate rage, try and
deny the death / genocide of a religion / nation.
But it will not help, a proud nation / country is back to its promised land, a prosperous country,
a democratic nation, with a great history, and a big future, a country that  is the remainder
of a nation resurrecting from the ashes of ruin, into a powerful and prosperous nation, part
of the world’s DEMOCRATIC AND FREE nations!
No low /regulation in the UK or for that matter any where in the world, can or will change the fact that the nation
/ country that was build (1948) on the tears, pain, and loss of big parts of the Jewish (central and eastern European as well as some of North Africa) Diaspora during WW2, the Final Solution 1942–1945,
a nation/country that is a vivid reminder, living monument for the determination of the holocaust (Hebrew: The biblical word Shoah meaning "calamity”) survivors.
It is there (Israel) on the promised land to stay, to be a reminder for all times to come!

Barbara, Dachau in '89 was pretty powerful when I was there.  Yes it was a museum, but it was still powerful.  The hardest thing for me to reconcile was that it was in a suburb - not way out in the middle of nowhere.  The residents HAD to know what was going on - no way they didn't see it.

The Holocaust museum in Washington DC is an amazing tribute.  On our way to Richmond for the convention we stayed a few days in DC and had that on our list of must-sees.

Those who choose to ignore the past are destined to repeat it.  We learn from the past so we can move beyond it.
