Sounds good to me. I've got studded Winter Tires and a fairing coming for the Trike. So I'm good to go if this is solid.

Why not DavCon again?

Just a thought -

If the reason we want to move is the smoking situation, why not just rent the conference room again as a smoking room? Even if there's a fee for smoking in it (most hotels are around $250 smoking fee), we can cover it.

Seems to me it just wouldn't be the same to have DavCon in St Louis.....

Tell you what Linda, I'll show up with my Trike. You just plain show up shorty.
Smiley
PS: its only 183 miles to the hotel from where I live in IL to the hotel, and I average 17 MPH on the Trike. I think I can make it by Jan. Besides you're talking about a guy who used to work in the Bering Sea in Winter.

I'm all for St. Louis, put me down as a definite possible Wink

Unfortunately, me rolling the van has had some financial set backs so I can't guarantee my attendance, but if I can swing it, you can be damn sure I"ll be there!

Liz, I thought the smoking ban was because of the statewide ban on smoking?  I don't think you can get any smoking locations at all when you are in a state with the ban.  I know that's how it worked when NY did it - you couldn't smoke anywhere inside - and in most places there now, outside either.

I'm honestly not sure how it will work in Iowa.

I know that I can get a smoking room at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza in Chicago, though there is no smoking anywhere else in the hotel.

I will do everything possible to make it where ever we have it... But if I have a vote, I'm voting for Bridgeton, MO

Let me see... For me:

Best Western - Bridgeton, MO 189 Miles from home

Rooms - Thursday    $67.99 - 84.99
      Fri & Sat.            59.99 - 63.74
With Breakfast and I think is is $9.00 per night for parking..

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Holiday Inn - Chicago (Mart Center Dr.) 135 Miles from Home
Rooms - $169.00 - $214.00
No breakfast included... and I know that it is a Parking fee  of $27 per night

Which mean that I can spend the entire week end in Mo for approximately what I will spend on one night in Chicago..

Once I weigh the two... I just will not be able to afford Chicago... But I will be with you in spirit, if that's where you decide to go...

A week-end in Chicago will actually cost me more than my hotel in Dallas, plus plane fare.

OK.....looks like several are up for it.

Shall we call it a go and start making reservations.

One of us can make one more contact with the hotel and make sure we are all getting the same story on the property, rates, etc.

What do you think?

I'm not trying to hijack this from anyone that has been working hard on this so whomever wants to be in charge of getting a block, here's the info.

I just talked with Katherine at the hotel and she said if we book at least 10 rooms she can get us a rate of $64.99 for each night, no change for the weekend, but that's better than $89 or so.  And she also said if we go over the 10 rooms, at this point they have availability, they will just continue to add rooms at the same rate.

What does everyone think?

That's cool with me. Under what name would we need to book?

$65 a night and a smoking bar......sounds like a winner.

That's my 2 cents .......everyone else?
