Do clusters ever make you hungry?
Oct 4th, 2008 at 3:11am

This is just something curious I've noticed... After I have a cluster, I tend to get hungry, or I start craving sugar, or carbs. I know the beast effects everyone in different ways, but I figured I'd see if I was the only one.

I'm suprised I'm not gaining weight with my beast encouraging me to eat.

As far as I'm concerned, cluster busting has been the best treatment I've tried. No migraines since I started it, and my hits have gotten so much better. Wanna know more?

Hi Pixie,

Actually yes. After I've had a hit, I feel like my body is drained of all it's energy, meaning I am both hungry and exhausted.
But the fact is, I'm usually to scared to eat every time, as I feel it aggevates the beast. I lose weight.

Greetings, Pascal.

I have never had this problem. However, MY beast feeds off of sugar and carbs. (ie. if I avoid these things, I have a better day). Be carefull these things that you crave could be what keeps your beast coming back. Tricky S.O.B. isn't it......

Haven't ever noticed this, particularly.  I'm not a great fan of sweets, and seldom eat them at any time.

I do know that when I'm in cycle, I'm often not in the mood to eat (too tired and sleep-deprived) , and often lose a bit of weight.  I try to maintain a healthy diet during a cycle, however, on the theory that we need all the strength and endurance that we have in order to get through the thing.

Best,

George

No, actually the opposite, no appetite after getting a hit.

I'm with Barry, can't eat for a while after a good hit. Unless I'm on Prednisone, then I can't STOP eating!!!

yup...can't get enough to eat after "bad" hits...especially carbs (which I always crave anyway no matter the cycle).

Ironically, during high cycle, I have no appetite..frequently lose 5-10 lbs off my normally already scrawny 6' 3" 185 lb frame. Have to force
myself to eat...I am forced to view the post hit binging as a necessary
refueling...sigh...is the hypothalamus related to appetite...not sure...

Best

I generally have no appetite to start with, which is the only reason I noticed immidiately after a hit, my body demands food.

Tell me about it... 2 months on Prednisone and I gained over 25 pounds. " Fortunately" my doc then put me on Topamax. I lost the 25 pounds and then some........ I think...... I can't remember.

At the beginning of every cycle, I tend to carb load.  I think it's due to the body gearing up for the pending attacks.

I get really hungry about an hour after an attack.  But that is pretty much the only time I want to eat during a cycle.  I am not hungry - but I still crave the sugar.  I make myself eat but nothing ever tastes that good.  I just don't want to get low blood sugar - which is part of why I go for sweets - I get a lot of sugar without having to eat a lot.  I tend to lose 5-10 pounds during a cycle.  When on Prednisone, however, I do gain weight because I am hungry all the time and I don't care what I eat!

Right before an attack I get hungry.

After an attack I feel sick or too tired to care.
I've lost 7 lbs. in this cycle, not good for my skinny ars. Smiley

Only when I was on pred ... then the doc put me on topamax (in 99) and I don't have that problem - food just isn't something that's on the top of my list.

Occasionally I get a craving for ice cream or donuts, but then I usually don't eat "food", so I guess one cancels out the other.

Great Post...

I can eat at any time...  and usually go for a smoke and coke (or a cup of home roasted coffee) after blowing the beast away with oxygen therapy...

The only problem is trying to outrun the sumo recruiters... or being asked to play Jabba the Hut at the local community theater rendition of Star Wars... That gets embarrassing...

The real problem comes when Joyce says I'm out of shape...  My reply that "round is a perfectly good shape" ain't cutting it...
