International shipping ...
Oct 5th, 2008 at 4:52pm

Has anyone had any experience in shipping legal prescription drugs from overseas to the USA?

The medications were legally prescribed, and picked up by the intended person.  Now that person would like to ship them to someone else.

Do you think it could be done?

Of course, this is just a hypothetical question ...

Yes, but if the package is opened for inspection there might be an issue with customs. I wouldn't attempt it.

Ship them to the "intended"person at the other person's address "in care of" the other person. Problem solved.

Regarding shipping legal prescription drugs from overseas to the USA...  In a word as a private citizen...  Illegal...

You can carry it with you but the list of "IFs" is onerous…

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there

How about if you were to ship it with the label something like this:

From: Harry Houdini
136 Pyramid Ave
Cairo, Egypt

To:  Harry Houdini
c/o Fred Somebody
1612 Whatever Street
Anytown, MA 01234

That way, you could say you are planning a trip, and just want to send your meds ahead of you, so that they will be there, when you get there?

Would it be the same coming the other way - i.e. shipping something like melatonin to here in the UK where it isn't licenced, but is in the US?

And put a note in it saying something to that effect.....

Technically, still not legal. And international shipping has a good chance of being inspected. Especially USPS mail.

You can call the 800-number at FedEx, ask to speak to an international shipping agent, and tell them what you're interested in doing. They have what commodities are allowed to which countries right at their fingertips.
