Change of National emblem
Oct 7th, 2008 at 8:34pm

The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a condom because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed.

It just doesn't get more accurate than that!

You are on target, Mel.   I find it so funny (not funny ha ha, but funny faux pas) we sit and joke about how crooked politicians are and how much they screw us, yet we, as a nation, continue to vote for the same crooks every election cycle.  Are we really that dumb, apparently the folks on the hill, both nationally and statewide seem to think so.  I think a lot of people would be rather upset if they knew just exactly what career politicians thought of the voting class.

The sad thing is that there really is nothing that we, the average person can do about it.  We are given a choice of who to vote for but , really there is no choice.  Either way, we lose.   We have to pick who we think will hurt us the least.....not help us the most.   They all say what they think we want to hear.  I guess I just choose the one that does the better job of knowing what that is. Undecided

Jeannie, let me call out bullshit here.  We ALWAYS have a choice!!  You need to educate yourself on the alternatives, or else you're just dooming yourself to an eternity of the same old crap.

Revolutions do not happen overnight, but they start small and gain momentum like a snowball.  Use the internet as a tool to start.  Read as much as you can!  How do you think we became educated on clusters? Smiley

Choose again.  When that fails choose again.  There is always another choice.  You don't have to vote for the lesser of two evils.  Choose again.

Sadly, that is not always the case in a state like Oklahoma where a third party never makes it to the ballot and you are not allowed to write someone in.  The third party candidates don't even try to get on the ballot here.  In November my choice will be Obama or McCain.  I dare not stay home or go and vote for neither.

I think there needs to be a national registry for presidential candidates and that all the states should have to put all the candidates on the ballot.  If there was a choice, there might be a chance.

If you vote for your senators, representatives and local people, but leave the presidential portion blank, don't you think that might send a message?  Just goes to show how much power the "two" parties have, doesn't it.  They are afraid of people trying to make an informed decision so they cut that option right out of the ballot.  You should be scared shitless by that.

Jeannie, there IS something we can do about it.  It is a sure fire way of clearing out all the dead wood that has collected in Washington.

If EVERY voter, in EVERY election voted for the NON-incumbant, within a few elections, we would have gotten rid of all the "power bases" that some of these have spent years building.

NEVER let a politician achieve a second term!

Yes, we may elect some real dummies, and a$$holes, but what do we have in there NOW, except a lot of dummies and a$$holes that have been there for YEARS!  At least we won't have to put up with them for long, because we know they will be out, at the end of their term!

Now if only we could convince the "people" to go along with this idea ...

Chuck, who NEVER makes political statements ...

Mike, check this out, it's about OK ballot access laws:

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Quote:
To be on the ballot in Oklahoma in 2008, a third party presidential candidate will likely have to be listed as an independent which requires the candidate to collect nearly 30,000 valid signatures by July15th. That is no small task, but more attainable than getting the party on the ballot.

Trust me, it concerns me deeply, hence my idea of the national candidate plan.    If it is a national election, then it should be mandatory that all the candidates be on the ballot.

Thanks Mel. As you can see, the voting process is pretty screwed here.  You can be whatever you want, but you either vote Rep or Dem or not at all.  I've been doing a lot of reading on this site and others lately.  My reps definitely know how I feel about the whole situation.  Too bad more people don't bother talking to their "representatives."
