The government is going to keep printing money into oblivion, making the dollar worthless.  Better buy into some gold while the price is still under $1000 an ounce. Roll Eyes

I'm just glad that even if we lose our house (IF Jess loses his job, we have a fixed rate thank God), we own 40 acres to build a shack on. Smiley

We have a very large resourceful family out here.  We could create our own commune with no outside help at all ya know.

Besides, we got losta material sittin in the shed right now anyway. Wink

Oh, and I also like that idea other homeowners are doing right now of raffling off their houses!

I agree with you Steph,

I mentioned briefly in another thread that todays American Capitalism is AKA Feudalism, and the dark ages never really left.  It was just in hybernation.

To me?  Being nothing but a Mom all of my life,  this is exactly like having a teen-ager who sneaks out at night after stealing all my diamond rings and gold jewelry so he can hock it for .10cents on the dollars for golf, banquets, spa treatments etc, and me....after finding out about it....puts in my last ring so he can steal that also.

Not sure if this is the correct anaolgy...but it sure feels like it to me.

You give someone a bailout.  They laugh in your face and spend thousands on fun and games in L.A. in posh surroundings and so you give them more.

Common sense just left the building.... along with Elvis.

You are lucky.  I have no one if all falls down around my toes.  No communal land, no nothing.

I don't know what I'll do, specially being out of work right now.  Times are looking awful for the working class as it is.  The Unemployed well hope is..well...

You get my drift.

I totally understand...  I am very fortunate that Jesse is a smart man when it comes to money.  Land has always been extremely important to him, he gets that from his dad and grandparents.  He had that 40 acres paid off before he turned 18 years old.  The man has a work ethic to be jealous of, but I swear it's going to send him to an early grave.  He also was never fond of borrowing money, whether it be from the bank or a credit card.  Always like to pay for things in cash, and then we got a little crazy after I became pregnant with Eli.  That's when we started racking up some debt.

Growing up, I had nothing.  I still say I have nothing, because I personally came into my marriage with nothing, so I take no credit for anything and take nothing for granted.  I know how easily everything can slip away.

We're starting out on Dave Ramsey's plan as soon as Jess gets home from his trip tomorrow.

Gotta break free...
