Rowing with my brother...
Oct 12th, 2008 at 4:38am

Hello all,

My big brother (Pete) is older and stronger than me. He is an outdoors person and I'm a city boy...but, we both love the water and whenever we can (way too rare), we climb in a rowboat or a canoe and ROW. It is all I can do to keep up with him...It's hard and it hurts, and he worries about me. BUT, wouldn't have it any other way.

We love each other, and doing this together only makes our bond stronger. I would trade it for NOTHING, it is PRICELESS...

Which brings me to the following from Jonny:

"Welcome aboard, grab an oar and row......Nobody rides for free!"

He has said this many a time, and I know from the heart. Every time I see it I think of my brother, AND, I also think of my brothers and sisters at ch.com. Never thought to say anything about it and regret that. You all are as priceless in my life as those experiences with my brother. We are all in this together, row (us), bail (supporters) or throw out a lifeline (DJ, docs, and you folks here)...nice boat!

"Grab an oar and row"
 THANK YOU JONNY!!

Best,

Jon

Jonny, right up until my vehicle came to a stop upside down, my hands were on the wheel and I was trying to regain control - I credit my family here at ch.com for teaching me to keep on fighting no matter how bad things seem to be.  I was lucky, when the vehicle stopped upside down and I realized I was upside down, I also realized I was alive - and from that moment on kept fighting - releasing my seat belt and crawling across the roof to get out of the vehicle.

No matter what, keep on rowing.  Jon your post is poignant.

To my family - no matter what, no matter just how bad things may seem, keep fighting to get back in control, it will save your life in more ways than the obvious.

On this Canadian Thanksgiving, I am thankful for surviving that rollover and crash, and I am thankful for all my ch.com family for giving me the determination to keep on rowing, and I am thankful for Deej and Mrs. Deej for giving us this unique forum, unmoderated, to speak our minds and row how we need to row for our own best result, and for being able to give back and help others learn Jonny's and Jon's mantra: keep on rowing.
