...and they say dogs don't have souls...
Oct 25th, 2008 at 2:21am

Hello All,

To the above...Bah-loney...cuz I know a dog who has more soul than many of the people I've met...

Her name is Holly...adopted by my bro and sister in law from the pound...and so named because she had a collar with holly decos on it.

In 2004, while writing a euology for my Ma, on HER computer, with tears steaming down my face, that dog walked in, layed down and put her chin on my foot and stayed there until I was done. She just knew what I needed...

Several years before, while staying with Pete and Sue and Holly, I was in high cycle...many kip 8+'s. Scared her whimpering into the corner...damn that sucks...to scare a dog. Her heart was bigger than my pain though...as I was coming down, she walked up to me, put her nose on my knee and looked up (you ok Jon?). I told her, yup, ok now Holly. She smiled (dogs can, I've seen it) and trotted away...

Yup, dogs got soul...no doubt here...

Regards,

Jon

Any living thing with the capacity to love has a soul in my opinion.

Glad Holly has been there for you, there's nothing like it when a pet steps in to help you through a terrible situation.

Our doggie Chloe will sit at ramon's feet while he's having a cluster.  she'll put one paw on his foot.  Every time.  It's cute as hell.  She knows.  She never does that at any other time - to anyone else.

Do cats do things like that??   I dont know.

We got our golden retreiver puppy after Lisa started getting cluster headaches. She also has asthma. She sits with Lisa when she is using her nebulizer and sometimes licks her hand. She lies close by when she is getting hit and has that same look when it's all over. She goes to her on her own in these times. It's really special. Dogs have so much soul and feeling. I completley agree with you Jon.

Yes Woobs, cats do the same thing.  Alex's Gizmo was always right there with him through a hit, I don't know what I'll do for him this year Sad

My Wiley cat is always there immediately after as well, making sure I'm alright, as is Cisco puppy.

Even Andrea's Gerboa was always there for her when she cried - Fidget knew when things were not as they should be.

An animal loved and cared for will love and care for it's human partner (lets face it, we are not masters....)

I know our dogs have a great souls.  They are always right by Phil's side with love and kisses when he's having an attack (not that he wants anyone near him).  Even when I'm upset about something their right there.  I love my little babies.

Nice post and I agree. Dogs are thought to sense this kind of thing as well. I'll buy they having a soul.

Of course they do.   The only dog I've ever had,  would NOT leave the room when I was getting hit.   She would lay in a corner watching me the entire time and softly do that whine thing that dogs do when they're stressed or hurting.   Even when someone would come in and try to get her out of the room she wouldn't budge.

It's almost like she felt she had to protect me.

CH causes disruptions in my life, house, with family and even my dog, and yes, I did say my dog.  There have been a few times when I have been rocking back and forth with the pain, sitting on the bathroom floor with my Dad handing me refreshed cloths & my dog standing over my legs protectively emitting a low growl, like he's trying to protect me from an unseen evil.

My dog has gone as far as to take out his aggression towards the beast by shredding the tissues I've gone through after a particularly bad CH hit.  He's done this a couple of times and only selects the tissues I've used during a CH hit and nothing else that is in the garbage.  Needless to say I empty the garbage can right away after a bad one now.   Roll Eyes

CH affects all, even our pets.

One of our cats always wants to be with me when I'm having a bad CH. He just wants to be near, sometimes brushing against me, just to make sure I'm ok and he doesn't leave the room until the CH is over.

Most of the rest of the time, anything unusual, loud, etc and he'll freak out, convinced that someone is trying to kill the cat, so he'll run away somewhere to hide.

The other cat is a female and normally she is the one who loves to be stroked, cuddled, picked up, but she is never around when I get a CH.

Animals really do pick up on some things amazingly well, each in their own way.

Never has a more true statement been said.

I brought Zorro home after we had to put him down because John said he wanted to bury him next to his best buddy Skipper in the morning.  Lily was next to John the entire time and when John had shoveled the last of the dirt, she started barking and howling her eulogy for a couple of minutes, then walked away.

Yes, I believe dogs do have souls.

I hope so and if reincarnation exists, I hope to come back as one of my old dogs.

What a deal that'd be.

I have said it before and i am more then happy to say it again:

Pets are a lot smarter then we so called smart people will ever reqognise. Its time we open our eyes for that.

I remember our cat "Ronja"and what she did.
Just before i got hit she came to me and with her nose she pushed and massaged my temple on the side i had my cluster. She kept on doing that until i went for my oxygene and while sucking on the O2 she just sat on the floor or on the bed beside me looking at me,it was just like she said "Svenn i am here looking after you" DAMN i just miss that fure ball

Not mine.  When I get hit, they evaporate.  They only seem to reassemble when it's good and done.

Can't say what the dog will do.  She's only ten months old, and hasn't seen it yet.

Best,

George

Although I've never had a dog of my own, I've had the pleasure to know many great dogs. One of the was Vekku, my uncle's dog.

My parents bought Vekku from their friend and drove the four-hour journey to take Vekku to my uncle's farm. During that hot summer day my parents and Vekku became close friends- in fact, my uncle could always tell when we were coming, because Vekku had his very own bark for us! Smiley It didn't matter the slightest, that my parents had about 3 different cars during Vekku's long life, he always knew. Smiley

I don't think I've ever met as friendly dog as Vekku. He was a great hunting dog, great farm dog, but still a total pet. He loved kids and adults and was always ready for meeting new people. Smiley

The pets I've had have been guinea pigs and those three little creatures have taught be a lot about love, life and myself. And as little as quinea pigs are, they all are huge Personalities. Wink There has never been any doubt in my mind about whether dogs or guinea pigs or pets in general have a soul. They do.

Sanna
