Are Cashews a trigger?
Oct 31st, 2008 at 3:59pm

Many of you know my clusters are bad right now getting hit 6-8 times a day and a constant migraine on top of it.  I bought a 32oz tub of cashews about a week ago and seem to be getting hit every time I eat some I was just wondering if anyone else is triggered by these nuts,  like I said Im getting slammed right now so I dont know if its a trigger or not,  needless to say I not going to eat any more. Smiley F!#!@#$% beast trying to take every thing I like away.

Hey Phil,

Sorry you are having such a rough time.

I am 90% sure that nuts of any kind are a trigger for me.  MSG as well.  While in cycle, if I consume either of these, I get hit as if I have had alcohol.   Even if staying away from cashews doesn't lessen the amount of attacks you have, it may decrease the severity.

I hope you find sweet remission soon.

Pain free wishes to you,

Jeannie

Sorry to hear it’s so bad. I can relate to what you are saying because I’ve been there and it is hell. You start to lose so much sleep that you think sometimes everything is a trigger.

I have DHE and needles at home to get me through those times.

Stock up on the O2 and put a hot pack on the back of your head on the affected side.

I’ll pray for you to get some relief and strength to deal with the pain.

Roland.

Edit to add; Jeannie is right about the MSG so check the nut can for it!

Dear CH-H..

I have only found that fermented meats (salami, pepperoni, etc.) are my food triggers and weak ones at that.  I hope that the beast gets tired of beating on you and moves on quickly.

Best of luck to you,

Ray

Sure it can. I love this chicken breast thing Angie makes with this sauce she pours over top of the chicken once served but the last few times I have had it, wham!!

The smell of diesel or hydraulic oil will get things rolling for me. I guess what I am trying to say is maybe more so now I pay a little more attention to any kind of pattern or thing that I change to avoid triggering the monster.

Leave the Cashews alone for awhile and see if there is any change with when the hits happen, keep a written log during a cycle, it helps a lot.

Hope this helps you somehow. Smiley

Jeez Phil, how can one live without cashews..  I hate it for ya. I believe it's not what you eat, it's how you feel when you eat it. You eat and become relaxed. Bam CH. I get hit after I eat, does that mean food is a trigger? You like cashews eat'em, dont let the demon take that from you.(Do not do that with alcohol) CheesyWhen your getting hit like we are, everything can become a trigger. Never relax..ever. Then again what the hell do I know. Roll Eyes
all the best to you and yours

MGS is a trigger for me I have never had nuts trigger a hit until now.  A friend stopped by last night and I gave the cashews away so I cant check to see if they had MSG in them,  next time I am at the store where I bought them I will have to check that out.  Thanks for the help for now I'll skip the nuts and I wont relax ever.
