Let's turn that frown upside down.  I haven't lost much weight either Mel.  Remember awhile ago the Wii told me that I had 13 pounds to go to make my goal.  Now it says I have 14.1 to go.  But....my clothes are fitting better and my belly is starting to shrink.  So even though my weight isn't changing my body is.  Weight is just a number, just like age.

You're right Jen, it's how the clothes fit, not the number on the scale.  I knew that but it's sometimes frustrating not weighing myself as the last time I lost a load of weight I was weighing myself EVERY morning. Embarrassed  BTW, I do have size 14 jeans that I fit into, but not comfortably if you know what I mean.

Which brings me to this morning, LOL.  I dropped 2lbs overnight.  We'll see if it stays off or not when I reweigh on Monday (my weekly weigh in day), but I must say I DO notice a difference in my body.  Especially my legs, they are getting much stronger!  Hubby seems to like them too. Smiley Grin

I've also decided that it's too big a change to go to low fat, so I'm going to still try to stick to the no flour, no sugar and whole foods route.  Once I get where I need to be, I want to be able to maintain for life, so a drastic altering in way of eating isn't really a good idea for me.

One question though, how is everyone going to handle the holidays and all the goodies??? Shocked

Had to return the Dance Revolution because it did not work. It frustrated me for days, my friend came over and she has one at home, she tried it and said there is something wrong with the game pad. So I returned it and got a new one. Works great. Just did 30min on it and I am one big sweat bucket.

As for the Holidays, I work retail so the only day I get off is Christmas day. I will save the sweet eating day for Christmas, other than that I will continue to take Lean Cuisines to work for lunch and dinner.

I will get time off in February, after inventory is over.

Have not lost any weight but the clothes fit better. Don't forget that muscle is heavier than fat. So do not despair about the scale you are gaining muscle.

Keep exercising everyone.

That's a good point about muscle weighing more than fat.  I never even thought about that.

As for Christmas, I don't like many desserts.  My problem is eating the skin on the deep fried turkey that my dad makes every year.  Plus the mashed potatoes, ham and all that stuff.  My mom makes one dessert that I really like, so I'm going to give myself permission to eat all I want and deal with the consequences later.

I got in 30 minutes this morning.  The body test says that I'm down slightly.  I had someone at work say that my scrubs are looking a little baggy on me, so that's a great thing.

Keep at ladies.  We are going to look fabulous  Kiss

Weighing yourself every day is one way to definitely a one way ticket to the downers...

I'm not weighing myself at all at the moment. When I get Wii Fit (think it's my Christmas present!), I guess I'll have no choice. If you do have to weigh yourself, pick a day of the week and do it on the same day at the same time once a week. You should see a true reflection of any weight loss then.

Don't forget, if you've only started exercising it takes your body a little while to kickstart and get going - give it 6 weeks. Your metabolism will have increased and you will start to see a difference!!

For Christmas, I'm going to let myself have what I want, but am going to have to pick up the exercise in order to do that. It's the only way to treat myself without beating myself up with guilt for eating what I want. As long as I don't put weight on, I'll be happy!!

Keep going girls!

Well, I think I've got the formula I need right now.  I have a sugar free instant breakfast in the morning after my workout.   That keeps me full until lunch, to which I only have 1 serving of whatever it is I'm eating.  Then when I get my humongous chocolate craving within an hour or 2 after lunch, I suck on a hard candy instead which takes care of the craving.  Then for dinner I have only 1 serving again of whatever.

No snacking inbetween and if I eat anything with flour in it, it's only 1 serving I am allowed.  I find tho that I'm not even hungry for more. Smiley

I am now keeping up with my 20 min. of biking 5x a week too.  Yay!

Good work Mel - sounds like you've got a good plan there. Don't forget, it's all about balance - a little treat once in a while is all good!!

My problem is I can't just east one piece of cake, I want the whole thing!!

Now, where's the Christmas goody recipes thread???  Wink

Hey Guys,

You all are doing great!!   Keep it up!     It has been TWO WEEKS with out a Diet Coke for me!  Let me tell you that is pretty amazing!   I think I actually am down a pound or two.  I don't feel as bloated either.  I think I might start swimming laps at the Y.  Maybe if I throw that into the mix of things I'll see more results.

I'll be blowing it tonight.  I have a dinner date with my husband.  I plan on having some red wine while I still can.  Spring is just around the corner and it is a trigger when I'm in cycle.    Heck... I'll probably have desert too!

Hey Mel,

You could burn some extra calories by clearing off those snow clumps from your deck.

Just here to help

Good job Mel.  Sounds like you found somthing that's working for ya.

Jeannie it's good to hear from you.  That's great that you gave up Diet Coke.  I don't know it i could totally give up soda, but I could stand to cut back.

As for me, being a 3rd shifter and sticking to any kind of diet is tough.  My eating schedule is so jacked up.  I'm off this weekend so maybe I ought to sit down and figure out what I can do differently to change the number on the scale.  This morning that bastard Wii said that I gained 4 lbs.  There is no way  Tongue  That was after a 45 minute workout.

As for the snow echo, we got about a foot since yesterday morning with much more to come.  Lots of shoveling to do here.  Damn Lake Michigan  Angry

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.

Never weigh yourself AFTER you exercise.  Your muscles retain water making you weigh more!

Jeannie, good going on the soda!! Smiley

Jen- don't get discouraged.  I think being a nighter, the best time to weigh yourself is right after you get up from sleeping before drinking or eating anything for the day/night/whenever.  Smiley

Weigh in this morning has me down 2.5lbs, yay! Smiley

I could have sworn that I had gained weight over the weekend, but I guess going off plan a little bit on weekends isn't going to destroy things for me as long as I stay on it during the week.  Woot!

How was everyones weekend?  Good I hope!

Good for you Mel.  You're doing great.

Yep, we need positive vibes big time.

I didn't workout on Saturday.  I did end up shoveling snow for about an hour though.  I also was running around out in the snow with the dogs for a little while.  Good grief, we got bombed with snow Friday into Saturday.

Yesterday, I got in 45 minutes on the Wii.  Then I ate a bagel with a thin layer of cream cheese and some sour cream and onion potato chips.  Then I felt guilty and went out and shoveled some more snow.  Then I made a beef roast and mashed potatoes with gravy for supper last night, and you know that I put gravy on everything  Wink

This morning I worked out with one of my Firm dvd's for 55 minutes.  Holy moly I'm feeling that.  I think maybe I ought to do one of those every other day and play on the Wii the other days.  We'll see if that gets me some faster results  Shocked  I've gotta build up some muscle to speed up my metabolism.

My 2 cents, you axed???  Wink

Always weigh yourself in the same manner at the same time every day. For example, I do just before I get in the shower every morning...buck nekked [There's a visual....Sorry]...no jewelry, no socks, no slippers...nuffin but a smile!  Smiley

Every lb counts!!

I'm hurting after the trek yesterday. All those stairs were a killer. I'm having a night off tonight, but will eat good.

Well done Mel! That's really good. Jen - shovelling snow is a tough workout!

Well done!

One is diet soda and the other is not exercising before eating breakfast.
