It's Official... Finally (Updated)

Kirk is having surgery on his left carotid artery tomorrow, to clear a plaque blockage. The artery is 99% blocked. The surgery was to be done in the first week of October, but got delayed due to various reasons I won't go into here.

We are in Indianapolis right now, and after the 3 1/2 hour drive yesterday (I didn't sleep at all the night before), a very short night of sleep last night, and a long morning of testing at the hospital this morning, we are both beat. But he has been all cleared for surgery tomorrow.

We spoke with the doctor, who described the surgery and while it is a common surgery, it is not without some very sizable risks. If all goes well, he should be able to get out on Friday. The top vascular surgeon in the state will be operating on him. I have full confidence in her.

Please keep him in your thoughts. I am sure everything will be fine, but a little extra help never hurts.

I'll post an update as soon as I can.
