Getting ready to leave. I think we both got about 3 hours of sleep. We both got hit within an hour of getting up. Angry

Taking my trex with me, and making sure O2 is available when/ if he needs it. Oh, and taking the red fuzzy socks Cheesy

for when he gets to get up and walk.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and well wishes, I'll post an update later. I'll see if I can ~~hack~~ log into the hospital wireless system.

And Linda... you have no idea Wink

. The anesthesiologist will give him, er... me, a break. Grin

UPDATE:

Chris just called me and asked me to post an update as she cannot get to a computer for a while.

They arrived at the hospital at 6:30 am and he went in for the surgery at 1:30 pm They put in a shunt and got rid of the blockage. Everything went well, but he has a slight amount of bleeding that they need to keep an eye on. He is in ICU and is doing fine..even cracking jokes.

I just got back from the hospital. Kirk is doing fine, the bleeding has slowed way down, it is a complication, but seems to be resolving alright.

We got there early, then waited and waited. I seem to be in high cycle, and today was not a good day for it. They finally took him off at 1:30, and it took 3 hours. I went into the waiting room, and sat in a recliner and crashed for a couple hours.

The guy before us had the same surgery, and it took a long time... therefore the wait. Kirk is in ICU being monitored very closely, he has a stiff neck and is very tired. He's on a liquid diet for the moment, but was happy they gave him some coffee. He should be discharged tomorrow morning, and we'll stay until Saturday, then drive back.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, everyone. It really means a lot. Now, I'm headed off to a hot bath and to bed.

Edited to add: Ray, a friend of mine is looking in on the cats for us. Just to make sure they aren't having any wild parties while we're gone. Wink

Just a final update. We left Indianapolis about 1:30 yesterday, I had rented a car, and the rear end started going out, so we exchanged it at the airport. They moved the Indianapolis airport, and it has been open 9 days. The people at Hertz were very helpful, and we got on our way.

I drove to Crawfordsville with a medium level hit, where we got off and grabbed a bite to eat. Kirk was cracking jokes about having zippers tattooed over his scars... which cracked me up. Grin

After the last few days, it was nice to laugh.

Got rid of my hit.

We stopped in Champaign to see Ruthie for a bit (thank you Ruthie!!), and got home pretty quickly after that.

I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, prayers, thoughts and phone calls. It means a lot to us both, and I know having you all watching over us helped.

I took some pics of Kirk's neck, he was telling everyone he got his throat cut (he's got a long wound, with a big long area of clotted blood), and they get freaked out. Roll Eyes

Such a joker. Cool

He may post a couple for you to see.

Anyway, thank you again! This family rocks!
