It was the best of times, it was the worst of time
Dec 5th, 2008 at 1:36pm

I was trying to think (it dose not happened to often) today during a presentation at work that I had to attend, in what book I can find a reference that will reflect in my eyes what I feel I go trough when I read the boards (mainly General Board) lately…..  and I remembered suddenly the beginning of Charles Dickens’s, Tale of Two Cities (1859), a book I have read many years ago, and the opening to the book has somehow “engraved” into my memory….

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way --- for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

I don’t know, but some how it seems to fit.

It fits so much, not just the boards. Listening to NPR on my way home I kept wondering how our world got to be where we are right now. This sums up my thoughts.

I am glad that there is a home like ch.com to share in all my fears, hopes and dreams with people who "get" me.

As for the outside world, I am an eternal optimist and believe that the light will shine again.  I just have to keep living. Smiley

I think Dickens was ADHD.

. . . . It was the best of times . . oh look, a squirrel! . . . .it was the  worst  . . have you seen my cravat?  . . . .of times . . . .oh my look at the time . . .I'm late for my . . . . . .it was the season of  . . . . have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? . . . .

That whole best of/worst of schpeal reminds me of the platitude "The future is firmly in front of us!"  Isn't the future ALWAYS in front of us?
