Cluster Headache Survey - 1134 Completed - Wow!
Dec 8th, 2008 at 10:15am

Hey All,

Many thanks to all of you who took the time to participate in this important survey with special thanks to DJ and Gator for getting the word out from CH.com and OUCH.

We also owe Royce Fishman and the leadership at Linde LifeGas a debt of gratitude for coming up with the funding to make this study possible.  Royce has been working with one of the top neurologists in the Nation specializing in our cluster headache disorder to make sure an expert in the field will analyze the results of this survey and get the widest dissemination possible. This is the kind of team effort that benefits all of us.

The process of analyzing the results of this survey will take a month or two at a minimum, and there will be more quick look results as they become available, but there are a few things that can be said at this point.

There were 1134 completed surveys.  This brings the statistical confidence level of the results to 99% giving it the potential to be the most authoritative survey on cluster headaches ever conducted.

In the first 34 hours the survey became available on line, the response was outstanding.  There were 498 completed surveys with a chronic to episodic split of 99 to 399.  The original goal was to have 100 chronic and 400 episodic surveys completed at the end of the survey so we were off to a fantastic start.

There were also some important figures on the average time in years to correctly diagnose the cluster headache disorder as well as the average number of incorrect diagnoses.  Results like this from a survey of this magnitude will shake the pillars of neurology and that will help bring a much greater level of awareness to our cluster headache disorder.

This survey is also part of an overall plan and we are moving forward.  Please hang in there.  We're making progress and there will be more to say about this soon.

Thanks again and take care.

V/R, Batch

Thanks for the update Batch.  Has there been any type of timeline set for when the results might be ready to view here in Clusterville?

Yeah - are the results in yet?  Wink  You know how much patience Chuck has  -- Chuckles is just chomping at the bits and really bugging me about what it showed! He's such a pest!  Roll Eyes

Again thanks for putting the time and effort into this one. Hopefully it will give some insight into our plight.
