Help...there's a bird in my house...?
Dec 8th, 2008 at 10:39pm

We just walked into the house from dinner and we don't know if it came in after us or if it came from the chimney.  I thought it was a bat at first - so I very courageously locked myself in the bathroom with Crystal.  Then Gordon said it was a bird, not a bat.  It is small and cute with lots of red and blue coloring.

Now we have the front door opened and we're freezing our butts...hopefully it'll fly right out.

Any other ideas? And aren't birds suppose to be in the South now?

does it look like an exotic bird... like a parrot? Is it possible that it's one of the neighbors pets?

with warm regards,
Tony

We had this same thing happen about a month or so ago.  I was sitting here watching TV and I saw something flying around in the kitchen.  I also thought it was a bat and I grabbed to dogs and went screaming like a little girl into my bedroom.  Phil was in there and I told him there was a bat flying around in the kitchen.  It ended up being a bird and he opened the slider and he shooed it out.

This might help...Turn off all the lights in the house, and outside the open door shine a flashlight at him or at the ground to try and attract him to the light/outside.  I have seen it work for a humming bird.  Hope it helps.

Whew!  Bird is gone.  Cute little fella.  Flew a bit too high at first and banged it's little head on the ceiling and flew right out the door, that's after it decided to chill out for a while on the ledge of one of the chairs of my diniing room table.

Thanks guys. G'nite.

Same thing happened here.  I had the Parish Priest come over and convert the bird to Catholicism. It left and never came back.

Might works on Skunks too.

Been there too. One got in down the chimney and through the blower system. I have no idea how. I took out the cellar windows and scared him out eventually. We used to get bats all time in our old house. Mom loved that............
