At the beginning of each week I ask each member of my family to suggest one meal they'd like that week.  I then go to the store to buy what I need for each meal.  Then everyone gets a chance to pick something and I don't have to rack my brain coming up ideas all by myself!

Tonight is simple.....Baked pasta with meatballs.

Liz and El are taking me out to eat tonight.  We're going to Lindy's over on Chinden Boulevard--it's one of those neighborhood places with a steakhouse on one side, and a bar on the other.  Surrounding's are pretty low key, prices are reasonable, and the food is good.  You know the kind of place I mean.   Smiley

They have this bourbon steak with peppercorns that I'm fond of.  Add a caesar salad with a few anchovies thrown on, a big baked potato, and a glass of California cabernet, and I'll be in pretty good shape.

Best,

George

Since it snowed all day here, I got an 8 pound chicken to roast along with cornbread stuffing, spuds, gravy, and corn or green beans.

Just a hunker-down kinda day.

I did beef stew in the Nesco yesterday - it was fabulous.

We still have leftover chocolate cake from JrBrew's birthday, as well as a cheesecake sampler Brew's boss sent us for Christmas.  Dessert is never much of a problem this time of the year . . . .

Three 4lb New England Hams in the oven as each year at this time Angie and the other supervisors plus the manager each cook a dish for all the staff, about 45. The store pays for the food.

Our dinner is a Chicken Alfredo stir fry, but damn those Hams are starting to smell good! Smiley

And the problems with this??

For ME, I already had it ... Sliced and fried smoked bratwurst, with Cajun rice.

Shortly, I will have desert ... Cookies and Cream Ice Cream with chocolate syrup over it.

(Gee, and I wonder why I am getting so fat?)

O.K. I'll bite Pat.  What is a "nesco"?

I wish you all could smell the aromas in my house right now.

A cross between the stew in the crock-pot and apples and cinnamon in the oven from the apple crisp.  I've got Vanilla candles lit too.   Yummy.

Linda, a Nesco is like a large slow cooker only it has temperature settings.

Well, I am so f'ing tired that I didn't even make dinner, lol.  Instead Jesse made spaghetti.  I am really not hungry for it, I told him that before he even decided to make it, so all I had was 2 slices of garlic bread.  (I know, bad, bad!)

Sorry - I thought everyone knew what a Nesco was.

Mel is right, but the temperature settings go up to 425 degrees F.  You can roast, deep fry, slow cook, and cook all sorts of lovely things in a Nesco.

I use it primarily as a slow cooker, but I can put everything together at noon (rather than 6am) and crank it up for a couple of hours and let it slow cook the rest of the time.  Ladies in church basements is what I always think of when I think Nesco.

I make a mighty mean spare-ribs and sauerkraut or french dip sandwich fixins in there.  YUM!
