Everyone has named some great movies. I cant steal anyones thunder with my list as all of  you had at least one that I liked a lot. So I am not going to try and list mine. One I did not see was "One Who Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest" and "American History X". So I will add those to the list.

Furthermore I am a huge fan of:
Al Pacino
Robert deNiro
Jack Nicholson

As for actors you forgot one who is up and coming and really over looked...
Edward Norton
Just my humble two cents
Rodger

Oh I absolutely agree, Rodger. Edward Norton IS a fantastic actor and ebjoyed him tremendously in for instance Rounders, Fight club and 25th hour.

Pascal.

Your forgeting The Score with Edward Norton and Robert Denerio, The Illusionist, Red Dragon, Primal Fear, American History X. These are some of Edward Nortons best movies.

now THAT (the Score) was a great movie.  Edward Norton is an amazing actor.  He's great in The Hulk too.

Yep, that boy would be on my island...

If you liked the Score, check out Primal Fear, In this one Edward has a duel personality in it as well. And if that boy would be on your "island" check him out in American History X.

Liz got "Mama Mia" from Netflix, and we're watching it as I type.

Wow.  It sure is a chick movie...

...Er...not that there's anything wrong with that.   Lips Sealed

2001 A Space Oddessy
Forrest Gump
Ghost
A few Good Men
Miracle on 34th street (the original with Natalie Wood)
ET

Roadhouse (most sensual sex scent with no nudity that I've ever seen)

Captain Jack Sparrow - all of them (those Depp eyes!)

Anything and everything with Harrison Ford!

I'm sorry, that was more than 5.

Me bad.

Can I add movies I hate?  Any Jaws movies.  I was 9 months pregnant when the first jaws movie came out.  Every time I heard that dum,de,dum, dedum stuff, I tried to lift my feet up on to the theater seat and couldn't!    Damn!  I had nightmares for months and never, ever went back into the ocean for a swim.

About half of my dvd collection is a heap of cheese, as I have a perversion  love for good old fashioned eurotrash from Lucio Fulci, Jesus Franco, and the likes.

Haven't seen the Score, Rodger, but will as soon as I can find the time. American History X was a movie that truely got under my skin.... what an ugly subculture that is.
Red Dragon rocked! I remember as a teenager going with my then-gf Susan going to the cinema for Silence of the lambs and being blown away... awesome stuff.

Anybody know the titles of the 1950s and 1960s British music, teenage, or rock movies that ran on TMC some months ago? Lots of fun stuff and Carnaby St. etc. references.

Love that stuff as well as Beat stuff over here.

Went to see the new version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" yesterday.  It sorta blew.

I'll still take the original.  Klaatu, barada nictu.  Trash, but good trash.

Best,

George

P.S.  Speaking of trash, has anyone ever seen "Killer Shrews"?  Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Could be the worst special effects of any movie ever made.  The giant killer shrews are dogs wearing shag rugs or something.

I love Killer Shrews. It's been a long long time since I saw it. You can add "Attack Of The Giant Leeches" to your list of terrible special effects. The leeches are essentially goofs in what look like Hefty Bags.  Cool

Tough choice... Tongue I watched many movies when I was younger, I loved some of them, but I don't think I would like them that much right now, when I am more mature.

But (in no particular order):
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Schindler's List
The Pianist
The Debt
Der Untergang/Saving Private Ryan/A Bridge Too Far

And if we are talking about TV series, Band of Brothers is definitely a masterpiece.
