"Queenbees and Wannabees"

There is some relational aggression going on in my daughters 2nd grade class  you know -  " you're my friend"....."you're not my friend if you ...."  whispering etc.   Just trying to figure out how to help her not be a part of that crap!

Wendy....I bought "Beloved" @ a garage sale this summer, but have not read it yet.  I did read "The Bluest Eye" , also by Toni Morrison, in a college Literature class about 10 years ago, and loved it!  Let me know how you like Beloved!

I have just started a book by one of my favorite authors, Harlan Coben , "The Woods".

Happy reading all!

My wife and I are Coben fans. I loved No Second Chance.

and also on the to read list (which gets bigger, rather than smaller) is Two Weeks in October: The Search for the Serial Sniper, by Charles Moose, Chief of Montgomery County Police (Ret.)

Hey Jeepers we need to revive our book conversations - we swapped some of the best books I've ever read and I miss your input on my reading list ALOT!

I'm re reading one of my favourite books, it just blows me away how unique it is and I can't recommend it enough. George and Felicia, I think you two in particular would love this book

The Athenian Murders by Jose Carlos Somoza
There is a twist in the tale that you won't see coming no matter what and it just.. I''ve never read anything like it. Utterly incredible book for me.

Thanks, Helen.  I looked it up, and it sounds intriguing.  I'll pick up a copy through interlibrary loan if the local library doesn't have it.   Smiley

Best,

KJ - If you liked Marley and Me, try Walking Ollie (I think by Stephen Foster). It's another great one which I enjoyed - partly because the dog is the same breed as mine (greyhound cross) and it all felt so familiar. But it is still another good one for dog owners!

Good stuff.  I like the first three Riverworld books very much, and his disturbing novel, "The Lovers".

The novel by Kilgore Trout?   Wink  No, I've never read it, although I know of it.

Later printings I've seen list Farmer as the author.  I understand the joke fell a little flat with Vonnegut.

Best,

George

Finished "Rose Madder" today so Becky gave an early Christmas present: #4 of the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson which is one of my favorite! So now I'm re-reading the first three to catch myself up. After starting at about 3ish today I'm almost finished with  the second one. Merry Christmas to me! Smiley

You a Harry Potter fan, Felicia?

After the first one, I always took Ellen to pick up the newest Potter novel on the first day of issue--it was a ritual I really enjoyed--her excitement was infectious.   Smiley

Read them all. The last one took me about a day. I was sadly disappointed with the movies but I guess that was to be expected. In my opinion, Maximum Ride is much better. More action, kids with wings trying to litterally save the world. Great stuff.

Well supposedly, Farmer got Vonnegut's permission for the gag, but then Vonnegut had second thoughts.  Seems Farmer had suffered a downturn in his popularity right about that time, and Vonnegut thought that Farmer was trying to ride his coattails, so to speak.

Anyway, the book's a hoot.  It's been years since I read it, but now you've got me thinking about it, I'm going to have to try & scare up a copy & read it again!

Best regards, and have a great Christmas!
