new with question
Dec 19th, 2008 at 8:32am

Hello everyone. My name is Molly and this is my first post although I have been lurking for a couple weeks. My boyfriend of two years suffers from clusters. He has been in remission since we met but they are back and they are ramping up. This is my first foray into the messed up world of clusters. I am trying to learn as much as I can to do whatever I can to try to help but am really green to this.
He has tried many of the treatments explained here and the only thing that has provided relief is O2.
Here is my question-the neuroligist has refillied the O2 script (I think the flow is like-18). The 02 company charges an outrageous amount to rent the regulators. He owns a regulator for the big tank so the O2 is affordable but he really needs a small tank for his car and his work truck. He is living in fear that he is going to have an episode while the O2 is not at arms length. How do I go about buying a regulator for the small tank? Are the regulators all the same or do the differ between tanks? Can you just buy a regulator and how do you control the flow. What is the size of the little tanks for the car. Sorry-I am sure I could figure this all out between the neuroligist and the O2 company but you all seem to be the experts so I thought I would try here first.
Although you don't know it you have already been a wealth of information to me. I am glad I found this forum and thank you all for your invaluable advice.

I'm not familiar with the US type of tanks, connectors, regulators and so on.
Have a look at the "OXYGEN terms explained" post at the top of the "Medications,  Treatments,  Therapies" forum.

Molly,

PM Batch and he'll help you or Chuck... they're our O2 experts around here.

Regulators are available on e-bay and you can get a tank from your supplier to carry in the car.

Welcome to Clusterville and thanks for being a supporter. If you have trouble go to the supporters page and you'll find "support" there for yourself. We have a great group there to help newbies.

Hugs BD

Hi, Molly!

You are a doll for doing this for him!  WHATTA GAL!

Here is a regulator, at a good price, that you can "BUY NOW" and have it shipped right out:

OR, if you want to try to get one for a lower price, here is one up for bid, that has a day left on it, and you might be able to get it for less:

Here is one that is a real nice one, that goes up to 25 LPM!!!  It also has two DISS fittings for a demand valve system:

This guy has several of them, and all are at $1.00, right now.  I will probably buy one or two of these, myself!

BUT, there are some options, and let me know if you still need help.

I am glad my thread Oxygen Terms Explained helped you.  That was the idea for the thread in the first place!

I am going to send you a PM with my phone number.  Call me if you (or he) wants to talk directly to me.

Good luck!
And thanks for being there for him!

Chuck

CAUTION:  Do NOT smoke when using or around oxygen.  Oxygen can permeate your clothing or bedding.  Wait, before lighting cigarette or flame.

Keep fire extinguisher available, and charged.
