Hi all am back after 3-yrs PF. GP gave me 250-mg depekote once a day,does not seem to be woriking. Also on Imatrex which works great but when I am getting 3 to 4 hits a day between k-7 to k-10 need something else.

Your experience is "normal" and points to the need for a dosage change before deciding whether Dep is for you or not.

You didn't mention using a preventive med. Hope your doc has also started one.

Congrats on 3 pain free years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many of the preventatives used for CH are often used a doses much higher than for what they were originally designed.  Depends very much on the person.  Talk to Doc - he'll probably want to walk you up on the Depakote.  I think they go as high as 1000mg/day sometimes. 

But there are lots of other alternatives!  Bob already sent great links.

Lots of info available on these boards!  (But you probably already knew that).

im not taking depakote any longer but i was up to 2000 mg a day when i stopped.1000mg in the am and another 1000 in the pm.so i would say your definatly at the low end of the dosage spectrum.worked well for me for a while,,just seem to hit a wall..im a lithium baby now.
