Seen that botox have been successful in patients with migraines, wondering if anyone has had success with it for CH.

I've only seen a few people report good results with Botox.  You can see the threads by using Google and searching for:

      botox site:www.clusterheadaches.com

A bunch of links to various threads came up when I ran it.
Happy Reading  Wink

I tried it three times and nothing but a smooth forehead the better. $2500-2800 a pop!

Overall, not much literature to support this approach.

J Headache Pain. 2007 Sep 24; [Epub ahead of print]

Botulinum toxin type-A therapy in cluster headache: an open study.

Sostak P, Krause P, Förderreuther S, Reinisch V, Straube A.

Department of Neurology, Klinikum Großhadern, Ludwig-Maximilians University, Marchioninistr. 15, 81377, Munich, Germany, Petra.Sostak@med.uni-muenchen.de.

The objective of this open single-centre study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of botulinum toxin type-A (BTX-A) as add-on in the prophylactic treatment of cluster headache (CH). Twelve male patients with episodic (n=3) or chronic (n=9) CH, unresponsive to common prophylactic medications, were treated with a cumulative dose of 50 International Units (IU) BTX-A according to a standardised injection scheme into the ipsilateral pericranial muscles. One patient with chronic CH experienced a total cessation of attacks and in 2 patients attack intensity and frequency improved. In another patient with chronic CH typical attacks were not influenced, but an ipsilateral continuous occipital headache significantly improved. Patients with episodic CH did not benefit from BTX-A treatment. Tolerability was excellent. These findings provide evidence that BTX-A may be beneficial as an add-on prophylactic therapy for a limited number of patients with chronic CH.

Do you mean three shots? I know someone who had this done after her CHs quit responding to any medication. She said it took something like 30 shots. Essentially the botox kills the nerve, but because of the size and range of the nerve it has to be "botoxed" all along it, not just in a couple places. It's been over a year since I've talked to her, but I'm going to dig up her email and find out how she's doing because my husband wants to try this.

Alison,

I tried it three times (about 12 shots each time) and it killed the nerve but did not stop it from conducting the severe electrical spikes, thus no relief of my CH. I also had no good results from nerve blockades ether so I gave up on this route although everyone is different. I was just giving my experience with these forms of treatment, not trying to discourage others from trying it. I forgot to add that I am hopelessly chronic and drug resistant.

Best,

Roland. Wink
