How y'all acting..
Dec 30th, 2008 at 6:52pm

....for New Years?

Me and Dianne will continue our tradition of a large bonfire in the backyard. Just finished splitting the wood and arranging it in the pit. Got some fat pine at the bottom so it should go up nicely.

Our neighborhood has several folks who are fireworks nuts, so we just sit back, imbibe, and watch the show from a distance. We no longer consider going out anymore. Too dangerous in many ways.

Happy New Year folks.

We'll be right here.  Going out on New Years Eve is like amateur night........

I call it 'Drink Til Ya P*ke Eve'   Cheesy

So.....these two old coots will be having filets and crab legs, watch a movie and that's it!  Well...I'm still a bit under the weather so Blake will have a filet and crab legs if I can't. Sad

Happy New Year to you all....we love ya...

Jackie, I have always said that.  "Amateur night"   Good time to NOT be on the streets or roads....

My brother and his wife will be here from Phoenix, so I'm making shrimp salad (with crusty bread Pegg) my famous hot chocolate and brownies, laughing our asses off and sleeping on blankets on the living room floor and watching the ball drop in Times square.

On New Years day, we'll go to my brothers other house and rake and burn leaves and say a prayer that next year will be a bit better for everyone.

I'll be one of those "amateurs" going out tomorrow night.  Comes with the territory if your spouse plays in a band that plays on New Year's Eve.

Normally I'd say "have fun storming the castle boys" and stay home, but we're having house guests who've never seen Brew's band.  I'll cart them to the pub and put in my earplugs and grit my teeth and enjoy it.

At least I don't have to sit alone at a table this year (and fend off the drunk and amorous).  Apparently I get better looking later in the evening . . .LOL!  Roll Eyes

I've lost count of how many NYE's I've spent watching my DH's band play in a bar.  It's not much fun when you're the only one sober within miles.

Wish me luck. Wink

Pat,

Sounds like you and I are going to have the same kind of NY Eve.

Although John's band isn't playing, our friends' band is. John was asked to jump in on back up vocals/harmonies and maybe pick up the bass for a few songs.

We're heading to The Arden Gild Hall for the party where the theme will be The 1960s.  Not many in the community of Arden will have to search far for 1960s style of clothes to wear since they are all still live in a 60s time warp every day.

There will be a huge fire in the fireplace, tons of food, good music and good friends so it should be a great night, as usual.

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

The party is only about 1 1/2 miles from here so we won't have far to travel.

Happy New Year, y'all.

Then nuke a TV dinner ...

Babysitting with the "little ones" while the "big ones" go out and party. Trying to stay awake to watch the ball drop...???? (haven't made it lately) - maybe the kids will keep me awak.

I remember those days when going out and "drinking till...." were "fun", but I think Chuck's night would wear me out now..... (well, I don't have to THINK - I know it would - too much excitement with that movie... and staying up till 9:30? - what a young squirt he is...)

Ya'll have a great Happy New Year and I second Joe's statement. Stay off the roads if you're a drinkin'.... Call a cab PLEAZE!

Hugs BD

Vibes to ya my friend...LOL  Don't overdo it with the bubbly Dr. Pepper now.

I think I'll be going to my old neighborhood to visit some friends who are having a house party - with lots of spanish food...Just gotta pack the mace, switchblade in the boot and loaded gun in my other boot.  Yeah, should be fun.  Huh

That or go to a friend up the block.  There's always the option of dancing naked for my husband, till midnight - then we can start the new year right.  Would you believe he actually asked me that?...some men have such dirty minds.... Roll Eyes

Whatever you all do, stay safe.

How y'all acting?

Well, we're not acting.  It's real and there's only good news!

The clock has ticked over, PF2009 has already begun here in Oz, and we're doing the happy dance for all our friends who must wait ages until midnight actually arrives.

Join hands everybody, and let's make this our best one yet!

Well, I plan to behave nicely...  Wink

I'm going to watch Steel Magnolias on TV while I wait for my best friend to show up. When she does, we will chat, eat chicken tikka masala with brown rice and later some sour cream & onion potato chips and french fries and sausages.

My best friend is addicted to board games, so I bet we'll be playing a round or 10 of Trivial Pursuit - I have the Millennium edition, she has Genious edition.

Later on we'll watch a comedy show while we play and watch the New Year's Eve concert, which is broadcast live from Helsinki's City Centre.

Once the 2009 is finally here, we'll have a toast (too bad it's Pepsi Max or apple juice there days... Huh) and send "happy New Year!" texts.

I feel that 2009 will be a better year for me; this one has turned out to be one annus horriblis. So, bring on the fireworks, I can't wait! Smiley

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Smiley

My kids have plans so my my husband and I will be going to a party at a friend's restaurant.  There will be a band and party favors and such.  We go out a lot so tonight will be just another night to us.  I just hate to see people get themselves so drunk that they are sick.  That is the part I hate about NY Eve.  Why can't people just have a few??????   I do enjoy spending the evening with friends though.

Hope you all have a safe New Year's!
