expired meds
Dec 31st, 2008 at 1:24pm

I have not had a CH in over 2 years but they decided to come back on christmas. I do not have health insurance anymore but I do have some Imitrex shots that are expired by over a year. I tried one last night and it seemed to help along with oxygen but does any one know if there are dangers with the meds being out of date? I thought I was done with these but here they come again. I have lurked on this site for several years but this is my first post.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

IF the meds have been stored in reasonably normal living conditions they will be O.K. It's interesting that, in talking with a couple of researchers in the field, they say that it's difficult to date meds and that it's only the requirements of the FDA they you see a package date.

sorry, I am just now seeing this.

I agree that most common CH meds are good beyond their exp. date,,,some meds become toxic after their date,,tetracycline is one that comes to mind.  Just a heads-up and please do research on what-ever med you're worried about o.k.?

Talk to your Pharmacist.  Sometimes certain ingredients evaporate or lose potancy.  I'd be afraid of toxicity.
