Something funny...
Jan 3rd, 2009 at 2:08pm

So last night, we opened a nice box of chocs someone had sent us for Christmas. I took a bite out of one and uh-oh... champagne truffle (pics and descriptions DID NOT match).

So, quickly OH and I get prepared with a coffee and an ice pack and nothing... Not a shadow or a tingle or a hint of a nose block. Yesterday morning was the first morning in a long time I didn't wake up with the usual shadows and stiff neck/beast hauntings I always have. I thought I'd blown it with last nights choc and that maybe I'd pay today instead but no...

And weirdly, I CAN'T stop thinking about it or waiting for him to start tickling the facial nerves and poking my eye with his big sharp stick.

What does this mean? I'm not brave enough to have a gulp of wine. One, in case I get hit and 2, in case I've been so deprived, I glug the whole bottle and move on to the bottle of Jack that's been collecting dust in the 18 months since I stopped drinking...

Undecided

Em, do you really miss it THAT much??  lol

Glad to hear of no hits!  Perhaps there just wasn't enough alcohol in the truffles anyway to stir the beast?

Well, in the past I've had pasta sauce with white wine in it and even after all the alcohol should have cooked away, I still had a huge hit.

Do I try another one now? Or just pretend it never happened?

And I don't miss it that much really!! At least, I tell myself that.  Grin

It might also mean that alcohol at the moment isn't a trigger for you or that only some sorts of alcohol are a trigger.

Good luck with the experiment   Wink

I say go for it also, Em!

If you are a wine drinker, like I , I would choose a white over a red first.

Let us know what happens!

I chickened out.  Embarrassed

On Friday, I'm gonna try a weak white wine spritzer and see how I get on. That way, I won't have to worry about being off work if he pays a visit and I'll have all weekend to get rid of him!

Chocolate a trigger?? The alcohol, I've coped with fairly well. If that switched to a trigger I'd be doomed!

Counting down to Friday!!!

Em - beer was a trigger for me so I stayed away from it for 12 years and then one night I (armed with all my meds) drank one and  - nothing.

So it's possible it's NOT a trigger any more. I can drink a beer occasionally -- I still don't push it, but am not afraid of it any more.

Hugs BD

Em,

if that would happen to me, I'd stay far away from alcohol - and chocolate... which is exactly what I have done.

I have had two sips of sparkling wine twice and on both occasions I regretted it streight away, because the beast showed up. And once I got shadows after drinking a glass of grocery store cider, which as so little amount of alcohol that it is nearly non-excistent (and these days the same cider is complitely alcohol free).

Me and alcohol just do not go together. I know that, so I do not risk it. I don't like the thing that much in the first place, so it's not a sacrifice in my book at all.

But we're all diffent. Maybe you should be very, very careful and see what happends or forget all about it for a while to be sure.

PF days,
Sanna
