After taking in so much of valuable information from this site, I thought to myself that I owe everyone to join and maybe someday I, myself, may ease someone's pain with a advise or a comment.
I'm so grateful for finding this site! And I'm very grateful for seeing the care and support so many give one another.
I'm 23 and just had my first episode, which lasted from early september to october 28 (about 9 am). The first three weeks I had one attack in the morning, right after waking up. After waking up, I had a really tense and throbbing neck. Usually when my neck feels tight, I crack it, and it's okay again. When cracking my neck, I found that an attack would start immediately. Sometimes I didn't crack my neck, postponing the attack a couple of hours.
The last three weeks of the period, I got hit from 1-5 times a day, attacks primarily coming at night. In this period I went to see a doctor, kept a headache log and read up on cluster headaches.
The first doc I saw prescribed sumatriptan tablets. They took too long for me to work, and I felt like a zombie after taking a tablet. The second doc I went to see, tried to feed me some sublingual triptan tablets, but I told him that I would like to try oxygen. He looked at me like I was insane. I guess some doc's don't like it when patients question their holy authority.
Got oxygen, and it seemed to work. My regulator went up to 10 L/min and that seemed to work. I still wonder if a higher flow regulator would be better as I'm a somewhat big guy.
During the period and after oct. 28, I had this pressure in my forehead (sinuses?) and my temples. It seemed like it was receding when I left Canada to go back to Denmark for xmas. In denmark, my head seemed to go nuts. I had pressure and throbbing different places in my head, primarily in right side of my head. I was really worried another episode would begin. After two weeks I returned to Canada, and the throbbing and pressure was pretty much gone. Just like that.
I was wondering if anyone else has experience with jet lag setting off or ending a period.
Anyways. I was depressed and totally different person for about three weeks, and I admire everybody who stands up to this ordeal and live their lives.
I hope the beast will never come back. Not for me, not for anyone.
Best wishes
