The narrow gage is seldom seen anymore except in the west and NW territories. I believe it was for mountain passes and edges of mountains that the narrow gage was easier to install. Anybody know if this is true? I hope you had eyes in the back of your head when you took the pic. -P.

I thought that this thread was long gone by now....wow, I'm really in awe (and appreciate) at so many unexpected supportive comments from everyone.

My wife asked the same question: "How did you know a train wasn't going to come up behind you?"

Freight trains are are flat out loud! I've been following the river on my bicycle up and downstream from there - believe me, you can hear them coming from 2-3 miles away in this flat landed area. Between the tracks vibrating and those air horns - you DO know that they are on the way!

Again, I thank each one of you sincerely for the kind words.

I wasn't just saying this when I asked. One of my students was telling me today that her Dad was teaching her to draw using a vanishing point. I told her that was one point perspective then I went over to my computer and got your picture up to show her. She was so excited and said that looked just like what her Dad is teaching her. Of course when she got all excited, several other kids jumped up to look and they all loved it asking how it works! Part of my job as an art teacher is to make children aware of their environment. Your picture served to make many little minds inquisitive and excited. Thank you... and I want that picture!!!

The blue of the stones against the orange of the rust. Orange and blue are complimentary colors. I think that's another reason for the strikingly beautiful image.
