Do all PARENTS feel like this?
Jan 13th, 2009 at 3:49pm

When they are proud of their child?

I am bursting at the seams.. I just don't have many people to tell who might know what it means to me..

My only daughter, who has busted her butt this term (she's 13) and is working really hard at her academics, has now also made CAPTAIN on the Girl's A Basketball team at her school  Smiley  I am SO proud of her!! Of course she has a co-captain because its a big team, but she is a go-getter in sports and her coach told her she truly deserves it.  She's also the starting center for the team.

I only wish her dad was good enough to share this with.. I know she would have loved to share it with him, he was so good at it.

So I'm sharing it with you, cuz I can  Smiley Smiley Smiley and I know there are a lot of proud mamas and papas out there... Me too!

Love,
Patty

Well, I guess with that extra thingy hanging down there, I can't claim to know as a mother ...

BUT, as a PARENT I can fully relate to how proud you are!  You have EVERY right to be SUPER proud of your spawn ...

Way to go, Mama, and kiddie!!!

Yes, all Mom's feel like this and it's nice that you took time to share your daughter's accomplishments with us.

Doesn't seem to matter how old our kids get either - if they do something great - we're all very proud of them.

Hugs

Sorry Chuck (and stop looking down there!) Cheesy, and the rest of the men.. did not mean to exclude you at all!!
I guess I said mom's because I was thinking of where this "person" turned out from just a pea in the pod.  When she was born she looked like a precious, delicate (not so little) china doll.. lol..not so much delicate anymore, but she's still "my precious".

But you are right - there are many dads out there that do right by their children and have every right to feel the warm glow of their children's accomplishments - and there are some single dads that do it all just the way some single moms do.  So I change my statement to "Parents", because it's only right!

Thank you for all the replies - I will tell my Cheeki just what you said, she thinks I say nice things to her only because I'm her mother.   Roll Eyes

Proud?  You have every right to be.

Good on her, and good on you.

Give hr a big hug and an 'AtAGirl for me!

You better show your pride in her accomplishments.  She then will strive to please you rather than trying to get your (or some one elses) attention negatively.  I deal with way to many kids who will do anything just to get some attention from somebody.  I like the way you care for your kids, and aren't afraid to show it.  Keep it up.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful news... No I am sorry to say that not all parents feel like this... you are a great mom... some of the parents I work with don't take the time to notice what their kids are capable of...

you are so lucky to have a smart, beautiful talented girl and she is so blessed to have you as well...

Proud too
