all over again
Jan 24th, 2009 at 2:05am

Sadday four after 3 years remission, today was a lot of fun, forgot about rebounders after too many trex injections.  million things to do and work to get done, got about 2 hours in today.  getting 5-8 attacks daily and getting wore down already, can't wait for the next 3 months.  trying to get doctors lined up and what a joke.  pain free right now and dreading trying to get some sleep, anyone relate out there?

I can relate and I can't! Only cuz I never get caught without my oxygen anymore. With lithium as my preventative and oxygen as my primary abortive, I rarely have to do the imitrex jab. Give us a run down of your regimen and please say you have more then just imitrex jabs to get you thru!

I hate when they come back after a loooong remission...just when you really start to convince yourself you've outgrown them...wam. Cry

Please do intro yourself and let us know what's working for you. Maybe we can throw another lifeline your way. Welcome to the board.

Joe

Oxygen ...
Oxygen ...
Oxygen ...
Oxygen ...
OXYGEN !!!

Did you catch my drift?  LOL!

I hope it is an easy cycle for you.  It sure sucks after living as a "normal" human for that length of time ...

Good Luck!

CAUTION:  Do NOT smoke when using or around oxygen.  Oxygen can permeate your clothing or bedding.  Wait, before lighting cigarette or flame.

Keep fire extinguisher available, and charged.

When this cycle I am in started back in August I had everything ready for me.
I had my three o2 tanks full and at the ready, I had my Verapamil script ready at the pharmacists so when the beast came back I was ready to do battle.
o2 is my #1 abortive, works every time so far, and the Verap is doing a pretty good job keeping the Beast at bay for the most part.

Totally! I am here after a few year free cycle. I had grown a deep belief that they had been 'in the past'. then boom, the beast emerges.
Take heart of what the posts have to offer. Being gone so long I had been catching up on the new try outs,  taurine has done me well. And making an appoinment for o2 as an abortive.
I can relate, as many here can.
Keep in touch, its healing, and helps so many

Polly,

I so can relate...  I'm about 2 yrs p/f...  but I 'think' I may be starting a cycle soon.. way to take your world and throw it to the ground.. reminding me oh yes, I have clusters...

About 6 yrs ago, I finally had to give up trex all together becuz of rebounds.. my doc cut me off, said you're going to have a heart attack.. and although it does work, i found i had MORE h/a and closer together, hence you many a day.  It was bitter sweet.

I pray for this cycle to get over soon for you.

FYI.. after 25+ yrs, my 'remedy' of choice is (at least) 360mg of Verapamil twice daily.  It is a lot and some ppl take more, but it is way over the prescribed amt, lowers your B/P and many docs won't prescribe that much..  but i've found it helps to break the cycle.. doesn't stop them in the beginning, but about the only thing that 'helps'.

Good Luck, Wendy

I feel your pain Polly.

Six year remission.  I thought I was done forever. I was in disbelief and waited too long to start on any meds.  I'm sure it prolonged my cycle.

Get some O2 asap.

Good luck gettin with a new Doc

I've been there. With mine, I knew pretty much how much fun was going to be mine every day for about 6 weeks.

O2 sounds good from here.  Smiley

Thank you all for replying, I definitely was not ready for these to come back and of course had no tanks or anything left over.  3 years ago I was a meth addict and so I thought that since I had quit that and have been clean for three years, that that was the reason for the beast, but yet another lesson learned.  I have been dealing with these for 15 years, tried neurontin, verapamil, and prednisone without much luck or result.  I have been reading and hope the neuro might try me out on lithium, topamax or valproate.  Come Monday I hope to have the O2 on hand if I can get the doc to get a move on.  What about the sinus buster or the Zomig? anyone with any luck there?  I know this round has been better because I refuse to beat my head on the wall or even touch my head or neck and it seems to be paying off but we'll see after this first month if I can keep that up.  Thanks again for the replies and look forward to comm  some more.
