This is ridiculous...
Jan 29th, 2009 at 7:21pm

A couple weeks before Christmas we were at Sams Club doing some shopping.  We walked past the deli and there were some really nice looking cookies there.  We bought some.

This week I get a recall letter from Sams saying bring them back for a refund.  That's all it said.  Nothing about why, what was wrong with them....nothing.  Apparently they weren't full of poison because they were eaten over 6 weeks ago.

Why did they bother?  Who has cookies sitting around for weeks?

Shaking head here.....

Jackie

They weren't peanut butter but who knows what was in them for sure.

How long until Salmonella symptoms show up?   Tongue

Not sure, but I have a feeling if you ate them 6 weeks ago and suffered no ill effects, you are in the clear.

They could have been produced at a facility that is under watch due to the outbreaks, even if they had no peanuts in them.  Just had peanut containing foods processed there at the same time.

Sort of like they put the warnings on non-nut containing foods for those with severe allergies.

"This product was produced in a plant that also processes nut containing products."  Or words to that nautre.

I'd say the same as Bill, 6 weeks ago...I think youare safe.

I think you're in the clear, too.

For what it's worth, I buy a lot at Sam's and freeze most for later.  I'm sure that's the type of behavior they are looking for.

If you like guacamole they have an excellent box of 4 airtight bags for a reasonable price.  It's nice to have fresh guacamole at a moments notice.

Having once suffered from salmonella poisoning, it only took a few days for me to get symptoms.  Nasty stuff!  Ended up spending 3 weeks in the hospital.

Of course the severity of my case had NOTHING to do with delaying to go see a doctor for a few days ...
