Chiropractor??? ( not for CH )

Hi guys,

I posted last week about my "Pain in the neck." I went to the doctor and he suspects a ruptured disc. I go tomorrow for an MRI to confirm that diagnosis but he is fairly sure that's what it is. I went yesterday for my first PT appointment and it seemed to be a waste of time ( and money.) Even the PT said that she wasn't sure if she could help me.

I have never been to a chiropractor before. Does anyone know if I could be helped by one if it is indeed a rupture?? I DO NOT want to have surgery! I only have a few weeks before my regularly scheduled visit from the beast and I sure would like to be out of this pain before the battle begins.

A good one can help with a BULGING disc, but from what I know (which ain't much), ruptured discs can only be fixed via surgery. Which is not what you wanted to hear, Boo.

The MRI will probably give you the information you need to proceed. Best of luck - I hope it's something easily remedied.

If it is a ruptured disc, alot of damage could occur from an adjustment. Listen to your PT, he knows what he's talking about. My mom had a ruptured disc, had the surgery, and felt better immeadiately after. Take care of yourself. Beth

Hi Jeannie.
If it turns out to be a herniated or ruptured disc...

I had my discectomy done at St John's Mercy.
Peter Yoon took care of me... he came highly recommended by the MD's I golf with.
I am 100% satisfied. Was in & out same day.
Let me know if you need any info.

I think her recovery was pretty quick (a couple weeks). Beth

Keeping in mind that I am a complete wuss...
It was worse than I expected.
I expected to take 2 days off. Actually took a week off, and did not really leave the house much for two weeks.

So... you should not not plan on giving any lap dances for 1-2 weeks. Grin

Do note that the 'physical therapy' route my GP tried before surgery made the condition slightly worse. I learned that with nerve damage the longer you wait the lower your chance of recovery. In hindsight I would have had the MRI day one and the surgery the week after.

I had surgery for two ruptured disks in my lower back. I felt immediate relief after surgery. However, I was laid up for a couple of weeks. I think 1-2 weeks is common for recovery. But remember everybody is different and we all recover at different speeds. Dont go see a chiropractor. They will not touch it if it is bulging or hurniated. Plus once you have surgery on that part of neck or back you more than likely will not find a chiropractor that will touch that part of your back again. No one will touch my lower back. But I can get adjustments for my neck and middle back. My parents got me a chair back messager that rolls and vibrates up and down my back from home medic at Walgreens I believe. It is wonderful for my lower back and the rest of it for that matter. I think it was a great 100 investment of their money. lol I will be praying for you that pt works for you and surgery isn't required.
