Shop around! I used to pay $15 per E tank and I've of heard others getting even lower.

I have since switched to welding O2 and I'm paying $18.50 for a tank that holds the same as (14) E tanks. I've gone this way because it's all out of pocket for me - insurance doesn't cover it until I spend $500.

If you're not insured, tell the O2 company so, and tell them you'd like to negotiate a cash rate. If necessary, tell them that it's just too expensive and you'll continue looking around.

It's all about negotiation. If it's too expensive, be prepared to walk away (and walk toward your Plan B).

Thats less than what we pay for it here in Australia.

Health insurance here doesnt cover oxygen and there is only 1 supplier so we have no other choice.

Deb, as I told you in another thread, I pay 10.00 because I did what Brew mentioned.  Sat down with the manager of the supplier and negotiated a cash deal.  Batting your lashes and shedding a tear or two didn't hurt either.   Wink

My plan B is welders also.

Except for plan B.

I would never suggest that others do what I do, because technically welding O2 is not certified for human consumption. (It should therefore never be mentioned or suggested on this site.)

In real life, people occasionally have to make choices involving the lesser of evils.  Welding O2 is not evil. A real K10 is.

Very good point !

Personally I have no problem with welder's oxygen, but I would not know where in Australia can we get a fitting for a welder tank to fit the mask.

The fitting we have here is different from that in US.

I pay $24 for each M60 tank (with our insurance plan it covers all of it until our bridge kicks in).  Definately shop around!

Hi All.

I finally got the Rx that CH recommended. It just so happens that the pain Mgmt. Dr. I went to yesterday's, Dad has CH. So he totally UNDERSTOOD. WOOOHOOO. The LORD works in mysterious ways !!!

When I told him that the neuro. I saw the week B4 (@ the same hosp.)
diagnosed me w/ chronic paroxysmal hemicrania, without reporting back what the O2 did, he was pissed & baffled. He said "she really wants 2 stick with this diagnosis dose'nt she?" Thank GOD he dismissed her. LOL.

Anyhow, back to the O2. What you said Linda almost made me pee myself you see, with all do respect to all, the O2 guy is a Hassidic Jewish man. If I batted an eye, he probably would have had me arrest for sexual harrassment !!! Grin

Im now working with my pharmacist. Im certainly not going back to that guy !!! Where theres a will theres a way, right???? Smiley

God bless you all - Deb
