Good people of Clusterville,

The following links provide access to the presentations Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh made last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held by the American Conservative Union.  

The first link is to Newt Gingrich’s presentation and it is 48 minutes in length.  The next 10 links are to the presentation Rush Limbaugh made.  It was recorded in 10 segments of seven plus minutes each to account for his nearly one and a half-hour presentation.  

I realize we are an international family with members from all over the world and not just Americans.  Having said that, I also know that as cluster headache sufferers and supporters we share a genuine passion to reach out offering compassion and meaningful assistant to fellow cluster headache sufferers and supporters in need. I’m also confident that as an international family, we each share the need to be free and that these presentations will provide meaning whether or not we are a citizen of the United States.

Accordingly, you need not watch any of these presentations nor is there any need to comment on this post unless the contents of these presentations compel you to do so.  

Here are my suggestions:

If you’re not sure where you stand politically as an American voter, but you feel the present economic and political situation here in the U.S. and around the world are confusing and becoming a source of major concern, or that you feel helpless and don’t know what to do…  Watch them.  I would also suggest you watch the political comments by the talking heads in reaction to these presentations…  They will try to marginalize, minimize, and demonize the honest truths spoken by these two conservatives.  If you do this, you’ll also notice there was an immediate reaction by the administration on Sunday…  not by the president who’s incapable of public speaking without a teleprompter, but from his alter ego and chief strategist, Rahm Emanuel.  Listen to his words carefully…  You need to understand liberals are incapable of speaking with truth and honesty.  They cannot look you in the eye when they speak.  

I would not be so bold as to think I can change the way you think.  Only you can do that.  I only ask that you be critical when you examine what is happening and look for the truth, then decide for yourself.

If you’re a conservative, and you think the liberal political machine running the present administration and Congress are leading the United States in the wrong direction, that their actions represent a clear and present danger from within that threatens to destroy all we hold dear, and that they represent a direct attack on the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence that got us started as a great Nation by saying:

“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”  

You’ll find these presentations will not only reaffirm your convictions, but give you direction as well.

If you’re a liberal and think the present administration and Congress are leading the United States in the right direction, that’s your privilege.  It’s probably best you don’t watch any of these presentations…  They could change your mind.

Thanks Pete... I enjoyed Gingrich... very gifted speaker.

Tried as I may to listen to Rush... all that ever comes across is this

I have to agree with Tony on this one.

Rush is the biggest self serving blow hard I have ever had the unfortunate experience of hearing.

I have no problem listening to most conservatives.  Rush is the exception ...

Tony,

Thank you for posting that link.  I was waiting for something like that video as it makes my point exactly.  Liberals have a very hard time with the truth and that’s what Rush Limbaugh was speaking.  Truth is an anathema to them…  and like vampires who explode into a fireball when exposed to sunlight, liberals have a similar problem when illuminated by the light of truth.

Liberals will do anything to divert attention away from the truth.  They will ridicule, marginalize, demonize, and even attempt to divert attention away from the truth by trying to destroy anyone who exposes the truth…  In this case, that they are attempting to tax the crap out of everyone to further their liberal agenda, regardless of how much income they have.

All you need to do is be critical in what they say and do then ask yourself why anyone would put out the barrage of diversionary tactics so rapidly after Rush Limbaugh’s address to the Nation?  The answer is simple.  The liberal machine in control of the White House and Congress are loading their depends over what Rush Limbaugh is saying.  

Take for example, President Obama’s claim that if you earn less than $250,000 you will not pay any new tax.  Well…  there he goes again…  Folks who believe this statement are going to be in for a terrible surprise.  You see…  It’s not true and like Clinton, Obama is not being truthful or honest with the Nation as he stands with his nose held high in contempt with a sneer on his lips and says this…   Why? Because he thinks people are just too dumb to know what he’s about to do to them until it’s too late.

So what is it that he’s about to do to all of us that requires such a devious and deceptive statement…  The list is long, but you can start with the Bush tax cuts that expire at the end of 2010.  Ah…  But these are “Old Taxes…” and the clever devil was careful to say “No New Tax” so letting an old tax go back into effect allows him to stand with his nose in the air and the sneer more menacingly…  And then there’s the mortgage credit home buyers used to be able to deduct from their taxes…  that goes away…  Hmmm…

The really clever new tax is another swindle every bit as damaging as Subprime…  It’s disguised under the title of “Cap and Trade.”  Newt Gingrich pointed this out in his presentation.  What is it?  Well it’s the title for a NEW appropriation (read NEW TAX in government speak) on your carbon footprint.  

The president plans to cap the emissions of greenhouse gases, forcing polluters to purchase permits for emissions that would be slowly brought down to 14% below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83% below 2005 levels by 2050. The sale of those permits, beginning in 2012, would reap $646 billion through 2019. Of those revenues, $525.7 billion would be devoted to extending Mr. Obama's signature "Making Work Pay" $800 tax credit for working couples. – WSJ.

So who are those evil polluters?   Start with the power companies that burn fossil fuel to provide electricity to your home, cars that burn any form of fossil fuel like propane, gas, or diesel, airlines, Airlines, Trains, bus companies, taxi drivers, and the list goes on...   The word to remember here if none of this has rung a bell is BOHICA….  Bend Over, Here It Comes Again…  

We are the evil polluters or consumers of anything produced by polluting fossil fuel and we are going to be paying so much more for everything without any increase in our income tax even if we earn less than $250,000 a year.  

What a slick deal… and Obama kept is word…  The only folks that are not going to be affected by Cap and Trade are the Amish…  But give them time and the obamanista liberals will figure out a way to tax all farm animals…

Keep your eyes and ears open, you'll hear and see a lot more liberal spin...

BTW quoting from the Blues Brothers is a bit obtuse...  Why not quoting from a more appropriate movie like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest... "Who's the head bull-goose loony around here?" comes to mind.

I am neither conservative or liberal (unless you ask my kids grandparents).  Republicans think Im liberal, democrats think Im conservative.

I cant listen to Limbaugh.  I tried.  He is charasmatic and funny at times but all he does is WHINE WHINE WHINE.  he doesn't have ideas of what WE SHOULD DO, he just spouts off whining about liberals.  Sadly in this speech, Rush is now playing the victim card.

Rush is pompous.  you can tell a joke about it (which was funny) but it doesnt make it false.

Anyway, even though I seem to vote very conservative these days, I guess Im a liberal because I find Limbaugh unpalatable.

Ahhhhhh. A man after my own heart. Here I was worried that after the gift of party-wrecking George Bush, the GOP would revert back to their semi-sensible libertarian purse-watcher traditions.......Whew......we dodged a bullet kids. It's dumbfounding that what's left of the Republicans found something like Rush as a spokesman....not as dumb as Bush of course but one who fits right in with Ann Coulter and the party paranoids. Hmmm...  You could be right...  I guess some will hear what they want to hear when they listen to Rush...  or they just turn off and tune out when they hear him speak...  So he's pompous... I thought his characterization and beliefs of Conservatives in the first link was excellent:
  • We love people
  • We look at people as someone with potential not with contempt
  • We believe people can do anything if government gets out of their way
  • We love our founding documents...  the Declaration of Independence and Constitution
  • We believe that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
  • And... We believe these unalienable rights are under assault
  • We want this country to be the greatest country in the world
  • We want this country to succeed and it's individuals to succeed
  • We may be created equal, but what we do with ourselves is an individual responsibility...  not government
  • And I will add...  We sure as hell don't worship as a blood right, an insane law that's been responsible for the slaughter of 50 million defenseless humans before they can be born
Perhaps if you just listen to the third link of his presentation...  you could comment on its contents.

I listen to him sometimes. I like him. I agree with most of what he says. But I understand that, first and foremost, he is an entertainer. His ratings bear that out, and there is no arguing with them.

Unfortunately, I work in a building made mostly of steel with a corrugated roof, effectively blocking AM radio waves from entering. And I work for a company that does not allow streaming over the internet. So alas, I go Rush-less most of the time.

Who knows? Maybe that's why I still like him.

Rush has become a multi millionaire with his rants. It doesn't speak well of our listening habits. Of course the corporate giants that have wrecked radio love him for this.

I have not yet read or heard all of what Rush or Newt had to say.  What little I have read/heard I have agreed with.  i.e. The quotes Pete just posted.  That is about the extent of what I know of the speech.

What I do find really interesting is the response.  I have yet to hear ANY substantive rebuttal of WHAT  was said, just criticism of the speaker. 

When I hear a rational reasoned rebuttal of the content of the speech I will be all ears.  I like to hear both sides of an argument before deciding what I agree with.  However, ad hominum attacks on the messenger rather than the message does nothing to further the argument.

You cant critique the substance when there isnt any substance.  The lines above were exactly that, 1 liners meant to be printed on TShirts.  It is also hard to disagree with lines like "We care about people"  "Government shouldnt get in the way"

Rush is extremely charasmatic and very intelligent but he is an entertainer.  He is not out there trying to make the world a better place, he is cashing in on the fanaticism of politically motivated people.

I will have to check out Gingrich's speech.  It promises to better more substantive.

I find it interesting that the fundamental philosophy and principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are apparently of no value to you...  

Again I must point out that liberals will do anything to marginalize, minimize, direct attention away from the truths that should be self evident as our Nation's founders saw them...  Likes or dislikes of Rush Limbaugh aside...  Have you actually listened to the video of his presentation in it's totality?

I urge you to watch Newt Gingrich's presentation then come back with your comments...

Until then, I can only assume from your comments, that you see the terrible damage being done to our great Nation at the hands of a Marxist trained community organizer in the White House, and a socialist led Congress as an acceptable outcome in moving away from the founding philosophy and principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution towards socialism or fascism.

No, it isn't going to be an instant pick-up. To date, most of the action taken by Bush and Obama have been about limiting the damage, backstopping some key areas to prevent a bigger chain reaction from happening.

But that dodges my question - do Republicans want to see the country fail so that Obama fails?  Do the people with anti-union sentiments care about the people that will be unemployed, or do they just want to see GM and Ford fail to strike a blow to unions?

I can't speak for "Republicans," I can only speak for myself. I want to see his socialist policies fail. If he believes in these policies so deeply that his psyche and persona are inextricably linked to them, then yes - I want to see him fail.

I am a strong believer in the free market, and if GM, Ford, and Chrysler have bound themselves to union contracts that would cause them to fail in order to provide cradle to grave care for their members and retirees, so be it. If they see that these contracts are going to force them to go under (where nobody benefits, including the retirees), then perhaps they should consider bankrupcy. Cancel the contracts and start over.

The marketplace dictates that nobody should get cradle to grave care for providing an inferior product, not me.

And as for the path Amerika is headed down, all I can say is that every experiment with socialism so far has failed. If one is a betting man, one identifies the streaks and never bets against them. His bigger government approach is the antithesis of what I'm betting on. Which means if he fails, I was right. Not necessarily that I win.

In the previous depression, we saw dire predictions about a communist America. They did not come to pass.  I see no reason to assume that a second New Deal will be any different.

I am not convinced that the reason that Toyota or Honda has a lower cost structure in the US is largely due to unions - they are newcomers, have a much younger workforce (no retirees) and they also got huge subsidies by the red states who competed to lure them in.  

I agree that companies and jobs should not be guaranteed by the government - the question I would ask is whether we should ever invest to buffer them from external circumstances or allow them to restructure?  When the US guaranteed loans to Chrysler under Iacoca, the result was a good thing.  Reagan was originally against the Chrysler assistance package, but ultimately changed his mind and supported it.

Just keep telling yourself whatever you have to, Flo. It's pointless to argue this - we are on opposite sides of the spectrum. I've already conceded defeat in a previous thread - in historical terms, 230 years is darned good run for a republic. But it's over now. Your ilk wins. The rest of us lose.
