Just something else to consider
Mar 4th, 2009 at 8:07pm

Can anyone tell me does excess heat and work pressure make things worse as i've just been asked to run a project in the UK and Egypt and i would'nt want to let them or myself down.
At the moment (IT) seems to be contolled even though there is plenty of scares (minor aches and shadows)
I'm on Verapamil daily doses which seem to be working (hope!!)
I'm pretty used to the weather here but not extreme temperatures.
The Uk job market is pretty poor as with, i suppose most, so should i turn it down?
Just thinking out loud but thats what this site's about ain't it????
Would appreciate comments
Colin

pressure has never been a trigger for me. usually when i'm relaxing is when i get hit. however if you are taking on a big project like that keep in mind you'll have to take into account the time your gonna need to abort attacks. another thing to consider is that fact that if your outside walking around in the cold your less likely to get hit as apposed to sitting in a warm office in a nice cozy chair.

you might be on to something with the heat. it seems that when i go inside on a winter day and sit down and sit next to the wood burning stove is when i would get hit. i place a large kettle on top of the stove. i would say it's a combination of heat and dry air. you may want to a use some type of humidifier.

Keep your abortives and prevents with you and use them. Go for it. It will be interesting, and busy... maybe put you under just enough stress to keep the beast at bay. I don't know how the heat affects you, but I'm sure you will do your best. Don't let the beast decide... live your life... go for it!

I'm all for not letting the beast dictate my life! Keep your prevents and your abortives handy and go for it.

Heat isn't a trigger for me but extended stress is. Stress is funny, for many, when they relax they get hit, for others, like me, extended stress will trigger attacks. You'll have to wait and see! Good luck.

I agree with the first 2 above posts. I believe relaxing and/or lack of stress will bring on attacks. I say take the job. With the world economy in the condition it is in almost any job is a good thing to have. Good luck.

For what my opinion is worth I agree with everyone so far.

Take the job & your arsenal of meds/prevents.

I live & work in the Northwest of Australia where the average temperature in summer Dec – Feb is 36oC, 96oF, Winter June – Aug 27oC, 80oF & 60 % of my time is spent in the field, heat has never been a problem as long as you can get a decent nights sleep.
It’s not uncommon for us to get a week where the temp in summer can be 45 – 47oC, 113 – 116o F.
Today is a very pleasant 32.5oC, 90oF

Cheers
Barry

Not too sure about stress but strong physical exercise has been good. It often helped end my cycle.
