The Fox news clip

I've never heard it mentioned in the UK on any news or talk show, its a shame he didn't emphasise what the magnitude of pain is like.
What i can't undrestand is that I always thought it came from the hypothalamus which then effected the trigeminal nerve.
In the begining I was treated for trigeminal neuralgia!! (god knows!)
I just wish they could have given it a different name I get comments like how's the headaches and it makes me feel such a wimp.
Its ONLY the people who see you go through it that really know.
DO OTHERS REALLY KNOW WHAT WE GO THROUGH????? DO THEY??
Really frustrated how trivial, "Coming up! "cluster headaches" then the weather and a word from our sponsor, (calm)
At least its had a mention, Stiff upper lip my boy you're British.
Perhaps i'm just bitter and twisted?

I've learned to take what I can get. This was GOOD publicity.

Hello Brew, Don't you just hate it when its so matter of fact, I know they don't understand but thats the point, they really don't know!!
Its just a news filler and it has'nt brought the attention of the pubic any closer to understanding and they had probably forgot within 90 seconds especially if their dinner was in the microwave

Can't agree. News stories must be presented at the level a 10-year-old can understand. This one was accurate and to the point. Once the content jumps above the average person's intelligence, they lose more and more audience.

Again, I'll take what I can get.

Brew, Don't you think it would be more informative if they had another link to this, like visiting a family who are actually going through it, perhaps they could do a Ozzy Osbourne.
All i know is,to make people aware, is to make it entertaining or shocking to gain their interest which the Fox clip would'nt have done.
I think its only us that is looking for recognition and were probably going to be overlooked unless we run naked over your Whitehouse lawn,or our Downing street cobbles waving a banner and professing our unconditional desire to rid the world of cluster head ignorance

You keep wishing for more. My grandma used to say, "You can wish in one hand and shit in the other. See which one fills up first."

Write to the producers at Fox. This was one of the best placed, most informative TV news pieces I've seen since I knew that cluster headaches existed (1992). You're barking up the wrong tree with me.

Brew, I'm not getting at you but "1992", wow what a long time, just goes to show what's missing, "No publicity", I would be quite happy/ sad to sit at home alone but this forum gives me something to do late at night with the knowledge that there are other people out there with the same condition .
JUST WANT SOMEONE TO DO A DOCUMENTARY TO MAKE THE WORLD AWARE.
Lets face it they know what Herpes, crabs, Syphilis and STD's are.
About itme i went to bed.

I thought it was a decent piece - covered many of the basics, no big errors or distortions.  To get every point discussed in detail would take hours, which isn't the point of that show. So a big thanks to the doc!!

Yes, the initiator is generally the hypothalamus, while the pain is generated in the trigeminal. CH is a type of trigeminal neuralgia. These are subtle points that we are interested in, but which the general public is not.

The outer boundary of what we currently believe is feasible is far short of what we actually must do.

My grandpa said this too.  It was hard to win an argument with him.

Any publicity is good publicity.  9 out of 10 people don't know what a cluster headache is.  It can never hurt to have people more aware of it.  However, being too technical or overly medical will result in less information actually being rememberd by those who watch, or those who don't change the channel.  The people who want to see the minutia tend to already know what it's about, suffer from CH, or are a doctor, etc..  Piquing someone's interest can perhaps lead to them searching the internet for further info, and finding this site or orthers in the process.  Forcing it on to everyone just leads to a smaller audience to begin with.
