Learning from others losses

Over the past year I've seen several people here cope with their dogs getting suddenly sick. Well it happened to me and all I could think of is the advice that was given to others. My 2 year old golden retreiver stopped eating today, smelled awful, had a hot dry nose and was generally lethargic. She also had unexplainable wounds on her neck and swollen lymp nodes. I debated waiting until the morning or spending the money and going to a night clinic. Because of things others posted with their dogs, I decided not to wait. The vet shaved both sides of her neck, cleaned out the pussey wounds, gave her some benadryl and antibiotics and she is sleeping like a baby now. Apparently she was scratched by something inthe woods that quickly became infected. I am out $185 but it's worth the piece of mind. (And another $90 for the speeding ticket I got on the way to the vet Angry

) Thanks for helpig me indirectly know what to do with Maddie tonight!

Maddie is still a bit quiet but definatly much better. The wounds are all drying up and the biggest issue will be keeping her from scratching them open. The vet gave me a silly plastic clown collar but I know she wouldn't tolerate it. Lisa said to put socks on her paws. At least it's the weekend. Chuck, Erik is out of town so I can have the recliner, oh but never mind, Lisa already grabbed it. I'm just glad it's a weekend.

When I was stopped Maddie growled and the trooper told me to get her under control. It was obvious from the beginning he wasn't a dog person. She was lying on a blanket in the back seat. She didn't even get out of the back. I explained what was happening but obviously he really didn't care. I think I insulted his manhood when he showed me he was afraid of her. She definately caught him off guard. There is an option on the ticket that says Request for Waiver hearing, guilty with explanation. I'm going to do that and hope for the best. Even if I have to pay the ticket ( I was speeding) maybe they can drop the points???

Thank you for your support and help. It is amazing how attached we become and also how fast it happens.
