New but not new
Mar 12th, 2009 at 8:15pm

I have been a sufferer for going on 12 years now. I have know of this and usually visit it now and again. It seems like when ever my cycle starts I get all my meds and tanks together. Visit my doctor. Do research online the whole 9 yards. Then finally my cycle ends and I just stop. Not sure why. The 6 to 8 weeks my cycle last wears me out and it's like  I want to forget about it and move on for the next year. Then I scramble  to get everyhing in place as soon as they start again. Now that I am going through a divorce. I am actually going to have to deal with this alone. For the first time in 8 years. Very scared.

I certainly can relate, I went in cycle for the first time about 15 years ago, while going through a divorce. I was already alone and then hit with these cursed things. I was probably as down as I have ever been in my life.

6 years ago, I meet the woman I am married to now. She is the one who found this site and made me aware of all it had to offer. I have made great strides in learning to deal with our medical rarity. She has comforted me and supported me, and believe me, as you know, we can be a handful when in cycle. She dealt with me pushing her away and not letting her near me, but through it all she helped. She researched and joined this site a number of years ago.

I just joined this site during this cycle. I, like you, would research read and then not come back till next cycle. I aim to remedy that this time.

The point is, it will turn around for you, if I've learned one thing, it's that the people who have these are some of the strongest people on earth. You have to be to cope with it.

You're never really alone, just look around this site, we all share a common bond. You'll find caring and compassionate sufferers and supporters. We are only a keyboard away, and I can attest to the fact sometimes a phone call away. It will get better and it starts now.

I know it'll be a rough ride for a while, these damn things are hard enough without the additional stress of divorce. You'll come out the other side, a wiser and stornger person. I know I did.

Best of luck and feel free to PM me if you need to.

That's the wonderful thing about this site.

I think it is only natural to want to forget and put behind you the pain of your cycle.

The support is always here, all you have to do is crank up the keyboard.  Smiley

Wishing you all the best and PFD. Iddy

Stef's right. Sorry about the big D, that sucks. But you don't need to be alone with this. I used to hide from the board off cycle, afraid even thnking of it...much less POSTING about it would start a new cycle. Jump on in and allow us to lend you a hand. Wink

I'll add my welcome to the list.  You'll never be alone around here  Cool

It sounds like you have a good plan in place for dealing with the beast.  Just let us know if we can help in some way.

Welcome.   Smiley

I used to come to CH.com when I was in cycle (mostly lurking) and stayed away when I was out.  Did that for about six years.  I think a lot of episodics do that.

Sorry you're going through a divorce at the same time you're in active cycle.  It's like a perfect storm of suck.

Come see us often--as Steph said, you won't have to go through this alone.

All the best,

George

Hi and welcome!  Sorry to hear you are going through a tough time right now.  Hope the beast leaves you soon, but know that you will never be alone as long as this site exists.
