Anyone got a foam helmet ?
Mar 16th, 2009 at 10:17pm

Bloody good to find you folks.  I pretty much gave up telling people about my headaches straight away, I guess thats why women rarely tell blokes about the pain of childbirth, you'll just get met with a thousand yard stare or all of a sudden the floor and ceiling become very interesting.

I FINALLY got diagnosed by a Consultant Neurologist a month back, bloody hell doctors (GP's) are clueless eh.  Its actually good to have a diagnosis...and now I've got a forum, things are on the up and up  Cheesy

Danged glad you found us! When you get a chance, let us know what kind of regimen you're on. The strength of this board is the combined experiences of hundreds of us! Maybe we can make a suggestion or two to discuss with your doc.

02......you'll hear/read this a lot on the board. If you're not already using oxygen to stop your attacks, read the "oxygen info" link on the left and PLEASE give it a try. I can stop an attack in 6-8 minutes using oxygen. MANY on the board have posted similar results. Definitely worth a try!

Welcome home! Wink

Hiya,

Another NHS user.

Top tips.
Join OUCH Uk
[yes I know still on my to do list along with five essays and a heap of other paperwork thats been on hold for nearly six weeks.]

Get a pre-payment certificate for 12 months- saves a fortune in repeat prescriptions if you have Eddie Stobbart deliver your headache prescriptions like I seem to. Roll Eyes
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

If your GP will NOT budge on the HOOF forms contact OUCH UK and also contact your consultant neurologist- if they fill in the HOOF you can usually get the O2 in three working days.
Try taking the UKs BASH guidelines on treating CH to the GP. You may be the only person they have meet who has this and will not know about the O2.
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Please tell me the GP has at least handed over some sumatriptain auto-injectors or imigran or zomig nasal sprays at least! If not get on the phone to OUCHs UK helpline toute suite.

I believe you are suffering from a misconception. You'd need more than O2 to get high, if that's what your goal is.

I dunno, a couple of bong hits with oxygen chaser should do the trick, and I thoroughly recommend really good weed.

Cheers Katie, I got prescribed a couple of those sumatrip injector affairs, I've been CH free for a few months and in answer to Steambug...I'll have no problems getting the oxygen from my doctor as I intend to ask the bugger mid cluster headache, that should swing it  Smiley

think I said in another post I was going to give that a go! (asking my GP mid cluster headache about the O2 - I do think its impossible for them to get an idea of what its like unless they see it - shouldnt stop them prescribing the appropriate stuff though!) - mind you he rang me this afternoon and said thanks for the info! (I gave him a headache diary and a printout from the BNF) seeing him in the morning anyway - will see what he says and does!

Are you at all familiar with exactly what is going on during a cluster headache?  Weed is a vasodialtor and what we need is a vasoconstrictor.  If you think weed should do the rick you're in for more pain than you need to be in.  It's a trigger, same as alcohol.

Oxygen is a good abortive...please try that.

Yes, they were deleted. And they were deleted by a Yank. They were ugly and way out of hand.

A couple of mine were deleted as well. They, too, were ugly and way out of hand. And they were deleted by a Yank.

deBauch,

I am forced to wonder why you are here. Your words lead me to believe that you are simply looking for a place to play.

If I am incorrect, may I respectfully suggest: Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

However, I suspect that you will find them to be less tolerant of rude behavior than we are here. I would further suggest posting there while not under the influence would go a long way in establishing a reasonable amount of credibility for you.

So let me get this right.

I'm perfectly civil in my posting...I mention that I smoke weed...completely unsolicited somebody is bloody rude...I stick up for myself, I then get a nasty PM (which is the slyest of the sly) and now my motives are questioned, my behaviour called rude and yet more patronising crappy assumptions are made about the state that I post in.

Quite unbelievable considering that I've hardly even gotten out of my own hello thread and I'm only here to gain knowledge and support for a thingy of a condition that I've got.

What I find particularly astounding is the bitterness that I have been subjected to over a simple lifestyle choice.  What if I had mentioned that I was gay ?  I'm guessing that I would most likely have been subject to similar attacks.  Personally I'm a live and let live kind of guy and even if I did have objections to other peoples lifestyles I'd have the common decency to keep it to myself rather than be downright bitter and nasty.

All that being said I won't let you lot drive me away which seems to be the game plan but if this is the kind of welcome that you give to people that suffer from this bitch of a condition I suggest that you take a good hard look at yourselves.  Carry on deleting my posts, carry on casting nasty aspertions, I have Cluster Headaches so I've had worse things happen to me  Grin

Shaun,
I just went back and read this thread from the beginning. It looked pretty cordial to me . We look at 02 as the holy grail for preventatives in slamming a HA back where it came from. You commented that taking a couple of bong hits and chasing it with 02 will do the trick and someone called you on it. It got nasty and DJ deleted the posts.

Your next comment was that a "yank" had deleted it and and how "facist" that was.

The thread was going downhill fast and the OWNER of the site deleted a couple of threads. Thats it.

I hope you stick around. There is a lot to learn here and share as well. We have been here for 10 years.  I think we welcome new members pretty well after all this time unless you have an agenda. In that case you WILL get slammed. I am assuming that you don't so.....

Welcome to ch.com. Smiley

Linda H gave me some sound advice on something that I was unaware of and that was appreciated, thats not the issue, that has absolutely nothing to do Brew sticking her oar in about my lifestyle choice, me giving the nosey thingy a slap and then getting dogpiled by the holier than thou crew.

Posting private PM's from someone for everyone to see , is a VERY un-classy thing to do around here and it really says a LOT  about people who do that.
