Hmmm....a mug of frothy, green ice water. You've made me thirsty, Barry. Off to the kitchen I go!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, too!

I'll be decorating the St Pat's tree, and hanging the St Pat's day stockings, later today. For dinner we'll have a St. Pat's day ham  before the annual St Pat's day egg hunt and much later, St Pat's day green fireworks.  Jr.'s been up for hours looking for the basket of candy that St. Pat hid for him . . . .

Blasphemy!! Anyone who has ham instead of corned beef today should be pilloried.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Anyone else making corned beef and cabbage today?  Katie is going to get everything started for me since it takes forever to cook.  Yummy!

Monty Monty Monty . . it was s'posed to be funny!  C'mon - you knew that right?  (besides, there's not a drop of Irish blood in our family!)

And yes, I'm making the standard boiled corned beef dinner tonight and even made a loaf of Irish soda bread this morning . . . .

Beth

We're going out for our corned beef and cabbage tonight.  The kids will order pizza, I'm sure.   Have a fun day, all!

Barry,

Thanks for the reminder to search the closet for something green to wear at work this evening.  Nothing the right shade, guess I'll have to be a shaded forest leprechaun, a pea garden one makes it difficult to hide me pot-o-gold.  Well, not so much a pot or gold, a leftover handful of Valentine's Day peanut clusters dipped in carmel.

Too early to roll in the clover to get some neat matching grass stains.

Actually a big chunk of "bacon" or gammon which ever you prefer to call it - ham to some IS what they have in Ireland.

In times gone by the Irish never ate beef. Cows were far to valuable. Every family kept a pig and bacon or pork was the most common meat with an occasional chicken that would have stopped laying.

Beef wouldn't have been used for St Patricks day or even eaten by the Irish really until they emigrated. The traditional meal for us is what we call Bacon (ham) with cabbage and potatoes. Then you get bubble and squeak the next day too!

So guess what I'm cooking?! Happy St Patricks day everyone -

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be behind you and
May you be in heaven a half an hour before the Devil knows your dead!
