I listen to a very broad range of music. Favorite band is Nine Inch Nails / Trent Reznor, The Beatles, and everything from Willie Nelson to Slayer and just about everything in between; though care little for opera or much rap (some is ok).
Music is like food: I don't just eat mexican food or thai food. I like a variety. Though it does freak people out when you play Cher and Slipknot back to back.

Night music, if I am trying to sleep and drown out the kids crying next door, I throw on some slow jazz or classical. Lately though, it has been NIN - Ghosts I-IV, since it is very ambient and helps to drift off into sleep.

I like 1950s and 60s rock and roll (pre Beatles) back when rock and roll WAS rock and roll.

I also love classical, opera, show tunes, musicals (hey, I AM gay! LOL), and 1940s and 50s country music.

I absolutely HATE rap!

Jim Morrison's hero was Frank Sinatra and Iggy Pop's hero was Jim Morrison. So that means that Frank, Jim and Iggy are all related. The WASP Texas radio and The Big Beat. But I digress. I like most anything with the possible exceptions of some Opera. Rap and Disco don't count as music. I'll be listening to Little Feat and Steely Dan one hour and Santana's Latin Jazz and the Gypsy King's Mariachi the next.

I have 2 teenagers who control the radio, and they listen to the dumbest shit! The songs dont even make sense.

Eg: Throw your hands in the air repeated 50000 times in the song.

I'm an late 80's-90's hair band lover! Smiley

Tony - my 3 year old grandson used to go to sleep with Gregorian Chants playing by his cradle.  Odd choice for an infant but it worked for him.

Me - Country pretty much all the way although I do like smooth jazz too.

Ghostly in a way, yet beautiful and like a breath of summer breezes.

Another one with a bit of Gregorian influence.  It's a bit long but it's worth it if you like this kind of music.

Since I've become a bit of a musical mercinary, I guess I'm liking whatever it is that's helping me earn some extra $$ at the time. I always try to make the ensemble sound the best I can by doing my part the best I can.

Lately it seems as though, when I'm not listening to learn something new, I've been walking back down that road to what I liked in my formative years. In my disc player in the car right now I have Deep Purple Machine Head, John Hiatt Stolen Moments, John Mayer Continuum, and some discs that I burned with band tunes on them.

Ive also become a fan of the pan flute.  Most anything played on a pan flute soothes me when my spirit is troubled, and the sh*t is getting deeper 'round my ankles.

For those of you who like Christian Rock, my all time favorite from Third Day, the harmonies and the way the instrumentation builds and subsides is awesome! A good one for AFTER you read any of the political boards! Wink

i've always considered you to be a connoisseur of music. my mom of all people turned me on to deep purple. she used to rock me in the rocking chair in the dark with machine head spinning on the turn table.

thanks to satellite radio i started listening to Americana. first time i heard this song i was cruising across I80 in nebraska on a nice sunny afternoon before they cut the speed back to 65. it realy fit the mood i was in.
