Poeple try ignoring, the problem is these open door posts will never stop. If people are going to start a thread and open a door, then they will have to live with what walks through the door.

And now it is more important than ever that people do walk through the doors. These people count on being able to bamboozel others with lies and just plain tire them out. Do you really want the country to go back to where is was the last 8 years? If so, keep ignoring these open doors and in 4 years we can have another Bush in office.

Very few people give a shit.

?

And here is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I try to never get involved in political discussions anywhere, because in this day and age, it's futile and gets nowhere other than animosity with the opposing viewpoint.

However, I want to remind everyone.  The President of the United States, no matter his/her party, his/her color, his/her viewpoints, does NOT make the laws.

The people that YOU elect to the House of Representatives make the laws.  The people that YOU elect to the Senate ratify those laws.  The President has the power to veto those laws that come on his/her desk.

Pick a law, any law.  Let's say it is a really good law that should be enacted for the betterment of every American.    By the time it passes the House, many "earmarks (note: PORK), has been added.  Then the Senate gets the bill.  More "earmarks/PORK gets added.

Now it goes to the President.  Gee, this is a really good, necessary bill, but with all the crap that's been added it's now crap.  Do I sign, or do I veto?

If I sign, I, the President, will be held "responsible" for all the added crap.  If I veto, I, the President, will be held "responsible" for not allowing a necessary bill to pass.

I, the President is in a lose/lose position on any bill that lands on my desk.

LINE ITEM VETO POWER TO THE PRESIDENT!  Most Governors of states have this power, mine does, why does the President of the US not have this power.

Bottom line, I don't give a rats ass whether you love/hate Obama, Bush, love/hate the Democrats/Republicans, love/hate black white.  None of this has nothing to do with anything.

You got a problem with government?  Blame us for voting for, and re-voting for inept Representatives and Senators and allowing them to add their PORK to needed legislation that benefits all Americans.  Blame us, for electing the greedy, the partisan politicians, the ones who care only about their own pockets, their own party or their own constituents before caring about their country.  Blame us for voting for the local dog catcher just because we've heard of his name before.

It's our fault.  It's only our fault.

Quit blaming the President, of any persuasion.  It's our fault.  It's my fault - it's your fault.

It's not totally because "very few people give a shit".  They do give a shit.

What's real is because very few people realize that the President of the United States of America, has very little power in making the laws of this country.  It's because very few people understand that the people they vote into the House and the Senate are the ones to do have the power to make the laws in this country.

Got a problem?  Blame ourselves FOR Congress!

We are getting exactly what we deserve.

Soapbox is now closed.

I am breaking a self-imposed rule to post here.  Last time I posted in a political thread I came very close to getting myself some time off.

Folks, let me make a few points that I frankly don't care if you agree with:

1.  Republicans are idiots.  Their party leadership screwed up so much over the last 8 years it is ridiculous.  If you disagree with this, you aren't smart enough for me to discuss anything with you.  I very much agree with Joe about what he said Bush might have been.  I voted for him twice and I still think the guy is a decent person.

2.  Democrats are idiots.  Their party decided the best way to lead this country was with either a man with very little experience or a woman who is not liked much by most people.  The democrats keep strolling out a bunch of horrible candidates who either have no integrity or no experience.  I honestly think Obama is probably a good person, but President at this point was a huge stretch.  Let's hope his advisers turn out better than Bush's.

3.  Funny to make this point after #1 and #2, but the reason I said #1 and #2 was to make this point.  MAKING generalizations about people based on politics, age, gender..... just plain ignorant.  The title of this thread takes away from any intelligent discourse the initial poster might have had.  Folks, if you have something to say, try making the point without needless random insults.  I bet my #1 and #2 points would have been read with more open minds if I had not started them with the initial statements.

Anyway, my point, which I stretched into a long annoying post is that these threads would be easier to read and more interesting/informative if people would stop using hateful language and insult where they are not needed.  Had the title of this thread been "Democrats attacking our troops as they return home"  would not the message been more effective??

Well, now I can have people tell me I am a nazi for voting for Bush and McCain and have others call me a socialist for saying I think Obama is probably a good man and thinking Rush is just an entertainer with little to offer.

I'm looking forward to all the insults hurled my way, like usual.

(PS Joe, i referenced your post before but I wanted to give you props for a very solid post)

No insults here Eric. I don't ever post on these political threads because it is pointless. Neither side will ever convince the other they are wrong. All they are good for is pissing everyone off.

And who knows, that may be the agenda.

They're plenty of political web sites where one can go and argue about politics until the sun goes down. Why peeps want to do that here on a clusterhead board is beyond me.

Having said that, not much can be done about it other than hit the ignore button and not read them.

If political posts DOES make you angry or cause your blood pressure to go up, then you need to stay away. Personally, they don't make me angry unless someone makes it personal and goes beyond attacking  their party or linked opinions and starts attacking the person. While it has gotten close, so far still within the guidelines.

Eric, no insults, sweetie.

As I said, don't care whether rep or dem, male/famale, black/white, liberal/conserv - it aint't the Pres who makes the laws of the land.

Look to your congressmen/women, and your senators, and yourselves to blame.

Superhawk,

Nice try, but if you want to be taken seriously in this thread, either check your facts better or demand a refund for your math education...

Your facts are screwed up as Hogan's goat...  Please see the following link:

Have you taken your own advice and bitched out your republican leaders yet?

New Hampshire, a democratic state, is the only state with ZERO pet projects in the stimulus.

Virginia has two uber liberal idiot Democrat Senators that both voted for the porkulus...   One of them, Webb, got caught masquerading as a Republican in the Reagan administration and was summarily booted out on his liberal tukus after less than 10 months on the job as SECNAV...  I've politely advised both of them to seek employment elsewhere when they come up for reelection.

Of the 11 Virginia Representative to the 111th Congress, 6 are uber liberal Democrats and 5 are Republican...  Now unless you're using the obama math method, the majority is clearly uber liberal Democrats.

Moreover, all 5 of Virginia's Republicans in the 111th Congress voted AGAINST the porkulus legislation...  I've sent all of them letters, faxes, and email congratulating them on being great Americans and for being responsible and principled elected representatives from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

All five advised uber liberal Governor Kaine of Virginia to refuse the porkulus funding as being little more than a socialist trap.   It contains UnConstitutional provisions that would obligate the state to massive and costly increases in entitlements...  He didn't and now we are facing massive tax increases as a result...

Take care,

V/R, Batch

I stand corrected.

The link I used doesn't have pics for 2 dems on on my screen it bumps them way off the side and I missed them. Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

that being said all republicans save 39 got provisions added to the pork bill you rail on. That is almost all of them. This isn't a democratic problem.

And really, putting money in the system is all that matters. It was done in the depression by having people dig holes and then having other people filling the holes that were dug. It was done by reagan by building aircraft carriers. get people working and buying goods again. It isn't rocket science.

I am glad you took your own advice. A note: my posts in opposition to you are not specifically anti-republican, they are anti-hypocrit. and in this time period I find most Bush sympathizers are hypocrits and also republicans. rest assured if Bush was a democrat and the dems controlled the gov and got the same results as the Bush administration did I would be railing on dems right now.

It's been really interesting reading this thread and learning a little about American politics. But you know what folks same shit different Country...!

Like most Western democracies the age old battle of left vs right is perennial as the grass itself, with each ideology getting a shot at power and without fail both f**@king it up....

Like the ying and yang they both need each other. So if the Right go's  way way out there there's always the Left to rope them back into centre and visa versa. To be honest i think  most parties in the future will be Pluralist anyway just looking for their next vote..

I say Vote Independent...! (maybe not)

Lefty...! ( Not an ideology but just a general area of pain...)  Cry

Superhawk,

Understand...  I've screwed the pooch a few times by not using my cheaters and misreading something...  That's why I supersize the fonts.

I agree, the massive overspending problems we face aren't just caused by one party or the other...  Members of both parties are responsible...

I realize it was too easy to suffer from Bush derangement syndrome and blame bush for all the overspending but the simple fact is it's Congress and specifically the House that writes appropriation bills...  Not the President or the Senate...  They can be co-conspirators and frequently are.   Nonetheless, it's the House that starts the ball rolling on overspending and they all too frequently plus up the President's budget request.

Unfortunately too many in Congress have lost their way. They've become power hungry...  Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely...  As they've forgotten who they work for they need to be voted out of office at the first opportunity... and the folks we elect to fill their seats need to be sent to Congress with the mission to establish term limits...  Two terms is more than enough!

I think we need to target all that voted in favor of the porkulus without first reading it and then we go after any that are left that voted for the omnibus year end funding bill with billions of dollars in earmarks.

After that if there are any left, we go over their voting records to see how many have been lining their pockets at the voter's expense with personalized legislation that favors their own financial holdings...

If you want a good example, check out princess Pelosi's handling of the minimum wage with respect to DelMonte, Sarkist Tuna, and American Samoa...  Very interesting reading...

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

There's been similar skulduggery done in office by dirty Harry Reid... I'm in favor of a special congressional tribunal that ends with both these two doing the two-step perp walk in orange jumpsuits and manacles with mandatory prime time coverage by the lamestream media...  If we find any Republicans guilty of the same or similar crimes...  they get the same treatment...

America deserves better from their elected public servants...

Take care,

V/R, Batch

How 'bout that Senate in the State of Georgia that accidentally voted to disband the United States and become their own country a few days ago?  Seems one of the anti-American Republicans running the show there slipped in a resolution with trip-wire provisions to secede, and it was passed without debate by a chamber that didn't bother to read what they were voting on. Ooops!!  At least the other chamber didn't make the same mistake so it has no legal force.

And we are hearing talk of Texas leaving the US from its Republican governor - not to mention the fact that Sarah Palin's husband was long a member of an Alaska secessionist group, and that she addressed their convention on more than one occasion.

I think you Republican's should decide if your 24% really wants to crap on the flag and try to break up the country - if not, the adults in your party should exert some control... and enforce the Constitution, which prohibits anyone who is in a rebellion or insurrection against the United States from serving as an elected official.

Quote:
Ammendment 14, section 3:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Well I guess I chime in here.  Sandy wins.

Strongly consider voting the Independent candidate. Try to disregard your Party inclinations and send fresh representatives who are not bought and paid for by the real legislative movers...the lobbyists.

The best message we can send as voting citizens is to derail this constant war of ideology which has us at odds as Americans.  Be careful though. Once the two Parties see the Independent candidate gaining momentum they will adopt their planks and try to convince you they stand for the same things.

Drain the swamp of the oligarchs..of both Parties.

I believe that TEXAS is the only state the holds the right to secede from the United States. I for one wish they would, I would move home so fast I would brake the sound barrier getting there.

But since Bush was Governor there before he was president I am sure everything that goes wrong will still be Bush's fault.

Let's see... Page Three of the uber liberal playbook... Fear Mongering...  and Page Four - Denigrate and Demonize...  Yup...  you got 'em both...

Hmmm...  You must have gotten your twitter fixed too...  You got the day's talking point on Governor Rick Perry spot on...  I suspect he's having a blast pulling the uber liberal's chain to watch them hiss like cats in rocking chair factory...

It appears Sarah Palin really has you spooked Monty.

BTW...  Hawaii has been threatening to secede for years, but the uber liberals give Danny Inouye and the Ke Kiaʻaina o Hawaiʻi (Governor) a pass every time...  (I know...  I was stationed there for five years).

Hmmm...  That brings up another point of interest...  Where does it say the governor of Hawaii can have a public record like the Marxist trained community organizer's birth certificate sealed...  but the Marxist trained community organizer can give away State Secrets?   There's something is wrong with this picture...

I did like your quote of "Ammendment" [sic] 14, section 3:  Particularly the part about "or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

Let's see...  releasing State Secrets... "The State Secrets Privilege is an evidentiary rule created by United States legal precedent. The court is asked to exclude evidence from a legal case based solely on an affidavit submitted by the government stating court proceedings might disclose sensitive information which might endanger national security."

The Marxist trained community organizer and his uber liberal hack, AG Holder, didn't have to provide Top Secret Memo's on CIA interrogation methods to the American Communist Liberty Union lawyers...  so they could post them on the Internet...

Although this was a far more egregious breech of public trust and confidence than what he said about Venezuela a few weeks ago, I have to agree with Hugo Chavez in his assessment of the Marxist trained community organizer...

The islamofacists and all other terrorists out to destroy us now have gift wrapped Top Secret freebies at the expense of our Nation's security...  and all this just to meet a campaign promise and bash Bush...  How frighteningly nuanced!

Too bad he didn't keep some of his other campaign promises like 6 days to review legislation...

While it has gotten close, so far still within the guidelines.

you have to admire batches passion and choice of words. he puts allot of thought into his posts. the man is an artist. wish i was retired like that  Grin

Texas law prohbits us from seceeding, but it gives us the right to break into 10 new states... that would be interesting.... Old Rick needs to brush up on his Texas History (oops I forgot they quit teaching that to kids in TEXAS schools).

Nuther thing.... I might not agree with EVERYTHING the PRESIDENT does, but I still RESPECT the OFFICE of PRESIDENT. The country ELECTED him for better or worse (sounds like we married him don't it? Smiley ).

I've had the opportunity to live in a lot of foreign countries including some of the ones we don't get along with right now (Korea and Venezuela included) and think we're better off talking to them rather than bombing them. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer is a good axiom to remember. I can't fault Obama for that one. Why not talk to them - find out where they're coming from?

Guess I was raised to THINK for myself. Heck, sometimes I'm a liberal and sometimes I'm real conservative, but I've never needed Boss Rush or FIX news to tell me what I SHOULD be thinking. I can usually figure it out for myself. I learned to read at an early age and can usually muddle thru those bills that Congress insists on muddling up with a lot of whyfores an whatas's. I keep writing them and telling them they're full of crap, but they just keep putting all that B$ in there anyhow.

Sandy is right about us - we just keep electing Congressman and Senators who just keep on screwing up our country. It's our fault pure and simple. And then we come to a forum like this and ARGUE about who's right and who's wrong -- WE ARE!!!

But as my sainted Mother always said, "Be careful about pointing that finger, cause if you look down, you've got at least three pointed right back at ya!"

Hugs BD

I'm all for Texas secession. What easier way would it be for Democrats to gain a fillibuster-proof Senate? Works for me!

For President of Texas: George W. Bush......
