Wish I could have been there
Apr 16th, 2009 at 12:25am

Unfortunately, unlike some who show up for other types of rallys, protests, and demonstrations I was not able to be here for this today, nor for any of the tea parties in my area.  You see, I have a job, and I have to work.  Neither do I get to file a Form 1040 showing $2,700,000 in income for last year.  Mine will be about the poverty level, but I am receiveing no handouts, NOR WILL I TAKE ONE!  All I want is to be left alone.  I don't want my sons and daughters to be responsible to pay $147,000 in taxes over their working lifetime just to pay the interest on Obama's spending.  I realize the Republicans have not been totally clean on this either, so that is why I say throw all of the bums out.

You may like Sean Hannity or not.  This clip is not about him, but about the thousands and thousands of people who were able to take the time to make their voices heard.  Unfortunately, they have to speak for me, and I think they as a whole did a pretty good job of it.

Jerry,

I attended the one in Austin and found it really interesting. The crowd was about 5 times larger than anticipated at 5,000 people according to the DPS. I had the opportunity to speak with many, many attendees and like me, this was their first time going to an event like this.

The local newspaper and TV stations were all there for the rally, performances by local musicians, the speeches by state legislators and the twelve block walk down to the lake.

With one exception, they all reported the event as "a few hundred disorganized (or confused) protesters."  I was fascinated to see that they all used virtually the same verbiage and expressions in their reports.

Then some guest on Tom Brokaw's show said flatly that people went to the tea parties because they are racist - they are upset about a black man being in the white house.  Just have to love the tactics some people use.........

Thought you might like to see a picture:

It wasn't Janene Garafolo, was it? Cuz she's said the same thing.

I'd have to go back and check, Brew. My wife was watching TV in another room and said to me: "Did you know that you are now a racist?" and then played a short clip with that line.

It's probably the same person, unless of course this was issued as some kind of talking point? (I used to laugh at that notion, but now I can plainly see it)

Did a little research and found this golden nugget. Garofolo was on Keith Olberman's show on Thursday and had this to say:

Quote:
Which, let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. And there is no way around that. And you know, you can tell these type of right wingers anything and they'll believe it, except the truth. You tell them the truth and they become -- it's like showing Frankenstein's monster fire. They become confused, and angry and highly volatile. . . . because their limbic brain, we've discussed this before, the limbic brain inside a right-winger or Republican or conservative or your average white power activist, the limbic brain is much larger in their head space than in a reasonable person, and it's pushing against the frontal lobe. So their synapses are misfiring.

I'm speechless. Must be my limbic brain, eh Janeane?

I really hope that the liberal media continues to use her as one of their intellectual spokespeople.

I still don't know who she is, but I have to wonder why such a hate spewing person is being given so much airtime.  I can only surmise that the hosts agree because they don't challenge her statements.

If you change the target of her rants, her words could have been written by one of those nut case Hitler followers talking about Jewish or Black folks. But somehow it's OK to be like that these days.......

Our local media reported "about 200" rallied for a tea party.  There were over 2000.

Thanks for the pics.  I always wondered what a "few hundred disorganized protesters" looked like.  Especially the "confused" ones.

For some reason the local media didn't quote any of the "bunch of redneck teabaggers" who "hate(ing) a black man in the white house" racist black folks that made up a large part of our tea party.  I guess they don't fit the profile they want to portray.

It is also interesting to take a look at the education level of those who participated.  Above average.
