Hello Everyone

Ive always been able to deal with pain pretty well or atleast i thought i did. I thought i knew pain when i ripped my arm open from shoulder to elbow and had 50 or so stitches at age 14 on my motocroos bike .Then i realized that was nothing compared to when my lung collapsed at 22 .It collapsed at 7am and i worked all day with it and almost killed myself ( whats a little chest pain ?  DUH!!) so the emergency room doc read me the riot act ,voted me for stupid move of the week award and installed a chest tube inside of 5 mins with local at 1130 pm and then 2 days later operated on the lung .Ever try breathing out of a just operated on lung in recovery ,it certainly was pain like i never felt before. Then 5 years ago when i dislocated my shoulder ,again on the bike and the top of my arm was 5" lower than where it was supposed to be and stuck straight out for 2hrs before they popped it back in and i thought wow this hurts as much or possibly more than the lung did. However nothing ,i mean nothing compares to a CH,not even close , no contest, its not even in the same league and add in a easter sunday special  17hr CH i got and now i understand what pain is beyond comprehension , i dont even think pain is accurate as its more like tourture. Anyway i needed to get that off my chest to people who can relate and im feeling like crap so sorry if this post is a little messy . Hoping for pain free days for all of us .  Smiley

Hi Peter,

Sorry you had to find us, but welcome along. Don't worry about the ranting. We're here to listen!

Tell us a bit more about yourself. How long have you had CH? What meds do you take?

Em

Thanks Em ,  Its becoming obvious to me that i didnt suffer from migranes as a teen , i think it was ch all along , guess it explains why they couldnt find anything to help me. Two years ago i had a 2 month cycle but i just grinned my teeth grabbed some ice and roughed it out. Now at 38 it decides a reunion is in order and for some reason its way more intense this time round which is how i wound up in the ER diagnosed with ch. So my neurologist put me on verapamil (720), immitrex injections and i had predisone and dexamethasone, ill start working on o2 tomorrow cause i dont agree with all the med abuse. Also for the last 7 weeks with no meds 3-4 ch a day i was rubbing and scratching my head in circular motions as fast as i could when i was getting or felt like i was getting a headache and it seemed to help, plus its making my hair grow back   Huh go figure.  Thanks again for listening .  Cool

With the meds you have been prescibed, sounds like your doc is at least knowledgeable about CH. That's a big bonus believe me! Do push the oxygen with your doc. 30 years of dancing with the beast it's still my most effective abortive. Welcome to the nut house.

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.
