Exciting Weekend....
Apr 20th, 2009 at 7:31am

Tax season is over (well, the BIG part - still have the extensions to get to but they can wait a day or so)....So I decided to go SHOPPING Saturday....

I've lost about 50 pounds and my clothes just don't fit any more and it was TIME to go shopping for new clothes, so I sucked it up and decided to venture off my hill and hit the big city and buy some clothes that fit.... (Did I mention I HATE shopping!!!)

Well, I'm just walking out the door when the phone rings... it's my little Caleb in Shreveport, "Granny come get me, Daddy is being mean!" Ok, a little detour (better than shopping any day - right). Drive to Shreveport, pick up Caleb and then drive to Longview for the shopping (Caleb is always comic relief).

We get to Longview and hit the store Granny has in mind. Caleb finds jewelry that goes with everything and thinks Granny needs it all... (you wouldn't believe at the new ear-rings Granny ended up with). About two hours of getting Granny some "beautiful" new clothes that fit, we meet James and his daughter for FOOD and get our second wind.

Then we go to Wallyworld (Caleb's idea) to look for Granny a beautiful hat to wear to her Red Hatters meetings. Would you believe they didn't have any RED hats, but not to worry. We got a straw hat and lots of things to MAKE it red (flowers, bows, etc - a little assembly required). And I don't know what happened, but a TOY got in our buggy and Granny checked out with that...ummmm..... well, we already had it, so Caleb ended up with that. Imagine that???? Wink

We finally made it back to the farm about 9 p.m. and got all our stuff in the house. Caleb called his parents and calmly said, "Granny's credit card was 'smokin'"

so yesterday, I cleaned out my closet so I'd have a place for my new wardrobe and have a NEAT closet for NOW. I have jewelry that matches everything and a brand new hat, so I'm set and don't have to go shopping for a LONG time to come (hopefully). Did I mention that I HATE shopping?

Then idiot son came up with his new gun to show off. It's the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. A .22 with a scope... He put out targets and was showing me how well it was working (he couldn't hit the red side of a blue barn). Of course Granny showed him how to work it, then went and dug out her old civil war .22 (it belonged to his grandmother when she was a little girl) and showed him how to hit the target without all that fancy stuff on it. Think I deflated his little bubble. He forgets from time to time that while mom looks delicate, she can shoot the eye out of a snake at 50 yards. Mom has to remind him periodically.  Roll Eyes It's a mother's duty. Wink

Anyhow, hope ya'll's weekend was half as exciting as mine. I slept real well last night cause I was just plum tuckered out.....

Hugs BD

It doesn't sound like you really "hate" to shop. Also it seems that Caleb put a fun twist in the day. Congratulations on losing all that weight too!
My weekend was yucky! I spent all weekend matting pictures for our county art show. It all was done by 11pm Sunday night. It was a beautiful day Sat. and I would have done anything for a walk on the beach Sad. Oh well, summers around the corner soon!

Hi Barb.

Glad you had a great weekend. After tax season you deserve it.

That weight lose makes you look even hotter than ever.  Wink

P.S.  Red Hats were invented in Vegas.

Of course Red Hats were invented in Vegas Bob -- I wouldn't expect anything less.... Grin Grin Grin Grin

Kevin -- Tomato earrings -- Now that's a fashion statement if I ever heard one... And you KNOW I'd wear the darn things....  (They would go real good with my Purple toe-nail polish - for my Red Hat night out ya know!!!)

Oh and then yesterday, Had to go to Sam's for my monthly grocery shopping and I did my "after tax season" splurge -- I bought a laptop (every year I buy something special for my office after tax season). We spent some time together and we bonded so he came home with me. I left him in his box last night so he could get used to the farm, but we're going to get acquainted today and get him loaded up with some programs he needs to get used to. Only problem is he has that new operating system (Vistage or whatever it is) and I'm still on XP, so I'll have to get used to that, but ..... at least I'm getting with the modern world.

Now I'm going to go finish cleaning out my closet.... I'm finding all kinds of strange things in there..... Roll Eyes

Hugs BD

Congrats on the 50 Pounds!!!! I'm sure you had to go shopping unless you were using rope to hold your pants up!

I'm down 22 since I met you all in SL. Am hoping to double that before I see you again.
