Springing into summer
Apr 29th, 2009 at 9:38am

Or I might want to rephrase that as *leaping* into summer.  We really didn't have much of a spring.  These flowers don't usually bloom until late May, so, methinks we're in for a looooooong summer.

We think somebody must have thrown a plant out and it just happened to land on our bank.  Yuccas are NOT native to this area.

Not quite sure what the name of this iris is, I've had it for several years.

Sorry about the blur.  Kept it anyway.  This is a wild plum tree that grows on the ditch bank in front of Jimbo's shop.

I have no idea what this lily is.  We dug it up out of my ma-in-laws' yard after she died

Yep we skipped spring down here on the farm also. It's hotter than hades during the daytime right now. Usually this time of year I don't even have to run the a/c, but it's been running big time the last week or so.

got a feeling we're in for a LONG HOT SUMMER (hey that would be a good title for a movie Wink ).....

We had those Yucca plants where we lived at one time.  As pretty as they are when they bloom - the leaves are really sharp on them.  I decided that I didn't want them - and proceeded to dig them out.  They have a root that looks like a sweet potato and if you even leave one small bit of root they come right back up again.

Drove by the old place a while ago - and they're all right back up again.

Nice pics - as usual - Carolyn.  Thanks for sharing.

Good Lord Potter -- it's 90 degrees here -- hard to believe there's snow anywhere in the world Smiley  You're welcome to come to the farm here in East Texas till the spring thaw.... Warm up those OLD bones. Ya can watch my tomatoes grow Wink

Thanks for the pics! Needed that today. Definately not spring here in MT. We have been in the middle of a blizzard for two days!! 11 inches in the downtown area this AM and more to come ALL day. Cheesy

I want flowers!
