Living with the Beast - A Short Documentary
May 2nd, 2009 at 3:33am

Hello! I'm fairly new here (I've visited in the past but not yet posted) - so I'm hoping i've submitted these video link to the right section of the forums (if not please feel free to move/rid it) =)

Right, anyway yes, Hi! My name is Dan, and I'm an aspiring Film student coming towards the end of my Degree (in video and film). It's my Stepdad, Mike, that sufferers from the dreadful Beast that is/are Cluster Headaches.

During my 2nd Year at University, we were asked to create a Documentary, and I thought what better a subject matter than the lightly touched on condition that is CH's. In the small number of weeks we were given, a small group of us made a short 10 minute informative documentary, interviewing Mike on his thoughts and knowledge about Cluster Headaches - as well as graciously being allowed to use some filmed footage from another sufferer, Antonio, who very kindly let us use his own personal attack footage to use within our piece. 'Clusterheads' has been out for a year or so on Youtube, and chances are some of you may have have seen it already. But if not and you'd like to, then here's the link Smiley

But what I'm mainly doing here today is to promote to all of you a new documentary called 'Living with the Beast'. For one of my 3rd and final year film projects, I really wanted to create a video based around my stepdad again (because, quite frankly he is one of the nicest and most awesome people in the world and a fantastic subject to film - I even used him for a project in my first year at University, although that was for a different subject altogether)
But for this film I also wanted to take another stab and tell a different side to the Cluster Headaches symptom. So me and a collegue of mine that worked on the last Cluster Headache documentary went about forming a new team and crafting a new, and (hopefully) creative film from scratch - that we were given a whole year for this project was a godsend as well. Wink

Without further ado's if you follow the link, you'll be able to watch the film (HQ recommended) with a more detailed description of the premise behind this film on the youtube link...

Also, me and my team would really really like to know what you all think of it so far... like what works, or doesn't work, or how we've handled certain aspects of the film... is there a clear message conveyed / is the purpose clear... etc...

We have about a week left (deadlining on friday 8th) until a final cut of this film has to be handed in, so comments and constructive critisism are very much welcome as changes can still be made.

Thank you ever so much for your time everybody in reading this lengthy post. Smiley

Brilliant Dan,
Thank you.
Very well done.
The act of restarting the engine and carrying on with life, after the attack, was quite symbolic of how people with clusters must live their lives.
