I've tried the rest, and
busting is the best!

I have pretty bad female problems, but no correlation with the CH for me.

I know that testosterone imbalance can effect CH though, in both men AND women... So you might want to have your hormones looked into.

As far as I'm concerned, cluster busting has been the best treatment I've tried. No migraines since I started it, and my hits have gotten so much better. Wanna know more?

Hi Marie,

Sorry, my periods don't seem to play any role in my CH.  With me being episodic, it's usually seasonal related stuff that gives me grief.  BTW, you have a cute little boy!!  Smiley

For me my periods have nothing to do with CH. That's about the first thing my GP asked (before I even got diagnosed with CH), and I have been looking into that for several months. Nothing came up.

My advice would also be to have your hormone levels checked.

Good luck with it and PFDAN!

Get your harmones check. Years and years ago (I'm older than dirt and don't have that problem any more) I had a problem occasionally with that and during menapause, but I don't even have that problem anymore, so I can't blame it on that.

But you may need some supplemental harmones -- I did. And they did help for a while.

I've never noticed a difference either, but my headaches went away totally during the 2 times I was pregnant. They returned not long after having my kids but it was the best 9 months in so long!! Smiley

marie you may want to try predisone also, i tend to rely on that as a last resort but it has never failed to help, I only notice my periode playing a role in my cluster ha when my ha cycle starts its always at the start of my periode , and when me ha cycle ends it seems its always at the end of a periode. but I go for two sometime three years without cluster ha and have many many menstral periodes with no sighn of clusters ,  just reg migrains.

I am a newbie here on this forum and am avidly reading all of the postings to gain information. I suffered from cyclical (episodic) clusters from 1985 through to 1998, with only my two pregnancies as remission times. I am, after 11 years in total remission, finding myself in a so far two week cluster cycle!!. I use O2 to abort and am working at raising the level of verapamil to the recommended minimum of 340 mg/day. (so far I am at 240, but have issues of HBP so I have to be careful) In any case, for me.. my monthly cycle was absolutely involved in the duration of the cluster cycle. In fact, because of the causality, I was always VERY aware of when I ovulated and the 14 days later that I had my period. Every sring (may/june) and fall (nov/dec) without fail, within TWO hours of ovulating I would get my first cluster attack and it would crescendo as cycles are oft to do with the finish of the cycle within 6 - 8 hours of my period at which point the cluster attacks would cease. I never really mentioned it to my neurologist because what was the point? There is only .1% of the population with CH, and out of that a smal 5% might be women and they (the medical researchers) ceartainly were not looking at CH research in terms of women and their monthly hormonal cycles.. But without fail, this was the pattern for many many years, until finally the attacks turned chronic for a year and then voila remission (until now) The only problem that I have (huge) is that due to my age, I am now in perimenopause (pre-menopausal) and have not had a proper period for well over five months.. hence my praying to all the Gods that be, that this will only last for 14 days (today is the 14th) as it always had been. But I think at this point to no avail.. Nothing indicating anything happening any time soon.... just thought I would let you know.
