Vincent’s Ear

What’s all the fuss about Gough’s ear?
They’re telling us now after 10 years of research reviewing the police investigations, witness accounts and the artists' letters, they argue that Gauguin, a fencing ace, most likely sliced off the ear with his sword during a fight, and the two artists agreed to hush up the truth.

For what its worth if my mate cut my ear off, I wouldn’t hush it up I’d try to cut of his bits.
I’m not sure whether to trust statements from the police from 1888 either, you know what I mean, lets face it they didn’t have the training then, (1 and 1 is 3) “nice uniform”, just love this whistle, and the “hat” pity about the trainers, (Yes!! they had them then) or so I’m led to believe,” What’s that in your pocket” it’s called a truncheon.
What about Gauguin being an ace swordsman, probably a bit of celebrity groveling,
“ooo you’re so good with that sword Paul, thanks Rachel see you up stairs for a little slap and tickle.

Cutting it short for those getting a little bored!
I reckon it had something to do with the soap his mum used, you know the stuff.
The Big Bar of carbolic, a foot long 4” wide, 3” deep and sharp edged until it got worn down, which never seemed to.
I reckon she scrubbed his ears after a particularly messy painting session and one came off.
Sitting in the tin bath sobbing for his lost ear, mum cried “ better not tell your dad we’ll blame your mate Paul I hear he  quite good with the old rapier” I’ll give you a few Groats and you can get a new tube of ochre.
It’s no wonder he had a complex.
