why again?
May 11th, 2009 at 1:32pm

And again I have to go through a
“dry”
period........

I don’t know why CH.com is for member only at the moment,

I just know that when I am at work I can not log on to the website.......
we should not log on to external websites from a work computer.......

It saddens me that, I assume, one (or more) individuals are ignoring some thing,
or misusing this website for what ever purpose...... and along the way causing others
much inconvenience..... or denying them from enjoying this website.......

I am not going to go into what (or who) is right and what (or who) is wrong.

I just know that by such acts, the individual (or more) put the responsible(s) for this
website in a situation that is most unpleasant, and I assume a nuisance...... but probably this is part of the “job” as an admin. of a website......

BUT

Dear Individual or more YOU deny me (and probably other) from enjoying the website and this is shameful, wrong.....and childish.....

You (the individual and or more) have no right to deny me and probably other the right to use CH.com with out logging in, you do not posses the right or the privilege to
force the admin. to lock the website to guests!

Michael - I want to understand what you are saying, but I'm not getting it. Do you not have access to all parts of this site? All I know is what I experience, and I am having no trouble at all.

Could it be some kind of firewall issue?

I noticed yesterday that, unless you were logged in, you could not view ch.com.  The site is now for registed members only.

I can not log on to CH.com from work, it is part of our regulations....
no logging on to external websites, other then our intranet...... I can go on the internet......  and see CH.com, but not in members only mode
So I can not enjoy reading CH.com from my computer at work....
I know I should be working, but sporadically I do like to see what is happening

It is a shame that this has had to happen, not only to you, Michael, but like you say, to all the newbies that are just finding the site.

Evidently, I am discovering, there are those personality types that just have to take things and twist them around to their own warped sense of things.  And then they carry it one step further, and try to force their distorted viewpoint to others, and not caring what damage they do, just to satisfy their own distorted reality.

It really frosts me, to see this vindictiveness.

A conscientious webmaster, like Deej, has to do what he is forced to do.  And the person, or persons causing this, feels good, because they think they have accomplished something worthwhile, when in reality, all they have done, is severely distorted the facts, and truth, and try to ruin something wonderful.

<sigh>

It really is a shame it has come to this Embarrassed

It took me quite a while to get up the courage to actually become a member ( you all are so mean and scary, you know) Wink   I spent lots of time here as a guest, last year before I joined.

It's probably only temporary.  From time to time maintenance on this site has to be done.

This is a simple rule to live by and believe me folks it is easy

It could be maintenance Linda, I've noticed this weekend trying to get in here it wouldn't let me, displaying messages as ''oops link appears to be broken''.

I call them Wodan and Frija btw...

I'm waaay too busy at work to check in much, anyway.

I often prefer to lurk, since I hardly post anymore...
but whatever DJ's  reasons, I respect them wholeheartedly.

I'm generally a lurker too, if anything I guess it is more likely that I'll post if I am forced to login.... and that is probably a good thing.  But I do worry about the people who suspect that they might have CH who aren't necessarily going to be keen to register as a member.  I know it took me a long while to do so.

Anyway, I guess it is for a good reason ?

I also see ..Very good solution...The newbies can still access all the relevant information they need which, was a very important aspect of this site.

Well done

It could also be that you have your security setting set at a high level that wont let the site cookie do a quick connect & log you on when you connect to the site.

I did that back in January & had severe withdrawal symptoms for a couple of days before I worked it out.

Cheers
